Like many mental illnesses, depression comes with stigmas and misunderstanding, and whether you've experienced one large episode in your lifetime, or it's recurring (like 5% of the American population), or even if you've never had an experience like depression before, this episode was created for you. In this first part of Love and Living with Depression, we humbly invite you to listen to Shiloh's own experiences with depression, from a young girl to her mid-20's. As we aren't professionals concerning mental illness, we decided to stay true to our own story and released the desire to overwhelm with many different accounts of depression, and anyone else's story of it. Just like in our past episodes, there may be triggers (suicide, alcohol use, drug use, abuse, mental illnesses), so please take care of yourself and stop listening should you feel triggered. Next week, Part 2 of Love and Living with Depression will conclude Shiloh's personal story, while also including tools, strategies, and references that may be of service to you, your partner, or a member of your life. Lean in, listen in and take this time for yourself. Enjoy.

What really makes us happy? Why is the US so obsessed with happiness and joy? As consumers, we are driven to BUY joy, purchase happy moments, and search far and wide for natural highs. We've been there! In part 2 of our Power of Joy series, we were inspired by the special edition TIME magazine with the same name. The eye opening and mind expanding feels so good after reading the articles, we just had to share it with you. We break it down for you - how research is changing the way we see happiness along with 6 common misconceptions about happiness. We also talk about ways we changed our minds about this emotion, and what we plan to do about our own pursuit of happiness. Listen in, lean in, and know you're loved.

In this episode Smiling Through Trying Times, we bring you part of a series, The Power of Joy. This particular episode is a great way to introduce the series, as we get inspiration from medical websites, Time magazine articles, Shiloh's shaman (Susan Roback), and books from her personal library. What is joy? If has to be more than the golden character from Pixar's Inside Out, right? Why do we smile, and where does it come from? Who affects our joy and how can we cultivate more of the feel good hormones? Listen in, weigh in and share your experiences with us and others during these trying times, because what we need more than anything, is connection.

2021 has arrived and 2020 is in the past. Or is it? In this episode, we reflect on our year, not just to find connection with you, but to remember where we came from, and what happened. While we express our miracles, lessons and struggles, we invite you to do the same in this hour long intention seeking (not necessarily attention seeking) take on what we can move into 2021 with. A timeline of 2020 will forever be a reminder that we survived, thrived (breakdowns are thriving!) and found messages in the mess. Let's reflect together and build ourselves up to have an amazing calendar year!
