Generally speaking we Freelancers got into the business to do work we enjoy and, hopefully, get paid for it. We didn’t go into business for ourselves so we could negotiate with clients.
Unfortunately, especially in the creative fields, this is exactly what we must know how to do in order to succeed. Whether it be negotiating a contract, a dispute, or simply talk a client into letting us do our jobs, knowing how to build relationships with clients and communicate properly with them is vital for both making sure our needs are met as contractors AND that theirs are met as our customers.
That brings us to our guest today. Attorney, writer, blogger, and negotiation coach Katie Lane has spent years helping creative freelancers protect their rights and be paid fairly for the work they do.
I’m thrilled to have Katie on the show today to talk about it.
