Beautiful
James provides a beautiful demonstration of how a therapist can truly meet a client where they are. His guidance emerges through genuine curiosity, which gently invites the client to become curious about their own parts and inner system. His compassion, patience, and care come through so clearly, creating the safety needed for the relationship between Self and part to unfold organically. As the process unfolds, the client begins to develop a deeper understanding of the system living within them. It is powerful, moving, and I delight in witnessing James’s joy as the client discovers Self.

Thank you!
I’m really happy to find a place to hear demos of people using IFS. It was mentioned to me by my therapist but she is not IFS trained. Just learning about it has brought up so much curiosity and interest in me and has shut down a lot of burnout. I’m in a training to be a practitioner myself. My parts become more and more apparent to me and I am clear they are excited to be heard but impatient with me finding a practitioner of my own, or else learning better myself how to get to know them so we can all work together. ♥️ Only one note since I was listening to James’ first call today where he mentioned that he appreciates criticism to improve. If I got that right, hopefully this is helpful… that is the intention. The intro and outro both have sounds that are jarring to my system. If that’s what you’re going for, it works. But my system just wants to know if there is a way to know the timecodes where the intro ends and the outro begins? Thanks again for this, it’s helping me to be both a client and a practitioner. I never do reviews but your podcast has truly earned one!

This podcast is so helpful and gives me hope for the future of psychology. James is a great facilitator and I’m learning so much by just listening to his technique and the individual experiences of his clients. Keep up the good work!!

Great show, terrible intro
Love the show and the level of IFS depths we get to see. The work being done here is incredible. But the intro is deeply annoying and really takes away from setting the tone for the work in the actual show! It sounds like the intro to a low budget mystery podcast, not a therapy session. The intro is long, disjointed and the repetition of hearing the same peoples aha moments makes them sound trite and annoying if you listen to more than one episode. I strongly recommend something without peoples voices so that you can focus on the person the episode is about without having these cheesy “oh my god” exclamations about how wild this work is.

Self-leadership
Experiential learning, training in self and self-leadership. Powerful listening. I check in here regularly as adjunct to my own IFS therapy. I’m encouraged to continue to do “courageous work.”

Highly recommend!
If you have an interest in IFS, this is a real and useful podcast with a skilled, present host. To be able to hear the IFS process in action is very humbling. I love how non- judgmental, attentive and curious the podcaster is with the parts of the people he meets. This process helps me, a self-learner, get a better grasp on IFS. Thank you for providing these live sessions to the world.

So helpful on my journey
This podcast has been a great addition to the work I am doing with my IFS therapist; it helps me get a better feel for how to interact with my own parts and what that can look like. I also find it incredibly calming to listen to. Thanks to James and everyone brave enough to share the internal work they are doing; it has made a big difference for me!

Weirdly wonderful
There are so many layers to this podcast… Witnessing someone learning to become an IFS practitioner over 300+ episodes. Following the arc of a caller’s / caller’s parts’ story over multiple calls, and hearing them actually change. Being with your own parts as they are identifying with and being triggered by the parts of others (almost becoming a small group experience in that way). This project is confusingly generous. The discord community with which it is associated is also very sweet and supportive.

So helpful!
I’m fairly new to IFS and listening to the experiences so others is do helpful. Such a lens to use to better understand it all. And also raises so many questions. Both are helping me.

Excellent Resource
Life IFS is an excellent resource for someone who is wanting to learn more about the AFS process and benefits. A lot of people equate it to hallucinogenic therapy but without the Hallucinogenics. Learning about the exiled child as well as the protector parts and how to heal the exiled child have been profoundly impactful.

Unparalleled generosity
I honestly cannot believe that this is a real resource! The skeptic in me, man, really has a hard time understanding how someone can be so generous, kind, compassionate, and accepting - but James truly is. This podcast and his availability for guidance is truly a gift. I am in awe, in all honestly. Amazing, amazing work. Thank you!!

Like nothing else for IFS practicants
I’m so grateful for this podcast… I see a therapist and work on my parts, but hearing sessions regularly, in progress is an addition to my understanding that I’ve encountered nowhere else. Discussions and direction about how to access parts, and hearing how clients are directed to speak to, communicate with, honor, and show compassion to their parts has been enlightening to me. Thank you James!

Fascinating and instructive
I’m a 72 year old who just started trying to do parts work…it’s not easy! My parts hide a lot…and I thought I was “failing” at doing IFS, but listening to these has helped me to understand the process better. This IFS practitioner is clearly a very skilled guide—compassionate and gentle, insightful without being directive. It’s an art. Much respect to you for doing this valuable work. 🙏 This podcast is definitely worth following if you are interested in exploring IFS.
