It was such a blast to interview Vonda Guidry, one of my absolute favorite people (and my aunt!) this week. If you ever get a chance to hang out with her, you'll remember it forever! Vonda is a missionary to Colombia (and formerly to Mexico and Spain), an international speaker, and an author. She's also a TON of fun and a woman who has had an awesome walk with God. The Guidrys began their ministry in South Texas and have moved to several Spanish-speaking countries. WHAT IS MINISTRY? When we think of ministry, it's easy to focus on the external aspects -- the performance side of things. The visible aspects of ministry aren't bad, they're important, in fact, as they show us that we are taking our burden and putting it into action. But that can't be the whole focus. If we only look at the results -- the actions -- of ministry, it becomes indistinguishable from performance. To understand what ministry is all about, we have to get to the heart of the word: "minister" comes from the Latin word that means "to serve." This tells us so much.
