In medieval times, the shield was the soldier’s primary tool of defense in battle. it was sometimes a soldiers good use of a shield that determined his lot between life and death, victory or loss. 

In the same vein, our trust in God and faith in his word provides us with the neccessary protection and strength we need to persevere.
