Now, I don't know about you, but I have some days where I feel super charged, clear-headed, inspired and ready to conquer the world.
Other times? I'm so darn distracted.
Oh, and don't even get me started on my energy levels after 10 pm — I'm basically just like an oversized cranky baby who needs be showered, fed and put to bed!
Okay, sometimes I am all of these things in one day. And, that's completely Our energy levels, like our time, aren't meant to be limitless. Just like the battery in our phones, it's a finite resource that needs to be recharged before we can work at full capacity again.
I found what has been really useful in making peace with the ebbs and flows of my energy is understanding my chronotype.
Otherwise known as "sleep animals." this is a concept created by sleep specialist Dr. Michael Breus. He believes that each of us falls into one of four "body clock" categories, based on the sleep cycles of animals in natures.
Head to the show notes for more in your sleep cycle and how it affects your energy and your productivity.

Laurel Jones is a high school who has big dreams and a powerful message about mental health in teen and mental health education. Although most schools provide mental health services, Laurel's experience demonstrates that schools do not always engage teens effectively. Her goal? To redefine the conversation. Laurel is Miss Southlake's Outstanding Teen, a local titleholder in the Miss Texas' Outstanding Program. Drawing from personal experience, Laurel is focusing her year on implementing a program she's developed called: Behind the SASH: Suicidal Thoughts, Anxiety, and Self-Harm.
Laurel is working with school leaders and legislators to help develop a new mental health program for teens to implement statewide. Listen in to hear how this amazing young woman is more than a pretty face and a crown, but is an advocate for young people everywhere in the fight against mental illness in teens.
We chat about her personal battles, how pageants get a bad rap and how she balances all her commitments from school to community service.

Whether you scroll through Instagram, Pinterest, flip through your favorite magazine, or see holiday ads on TV, perfect versions of Christmas are popping up everywhere during the fall and winter months. While they are nice to look at and can serve as inspiration for your own holiday decorating, cooking, and gift giving, there’s a hidden danger in these perfect depictions of Christmas that you need to be aware of.
The key word here is “perfect”. When you’re looking at these holiday images you’re presented with, there’s a real danger that you start to expect your own family Christmas to have the same look and feel. That’s about as realistic as wanting the perfect, air brushed body that the model on the latest fitness or fashion magazine has. Coveting a magazine cover Christmas will only lead to disappointment and a feeling of inadequacy.
Today I am sharing my tips for reducing holiday stress by giving into the fact that Christmas doesn't have to be perfect.
