Connecting with your Intuition and Spirituality with Rosa Shetty, LCSW
Today on Licensed Psychologist, Now What? Podcast I have the honor and privilege to introduce the amazing, Rosa Shetty, LCSW @@rosashettylcsw who is a mom, wife, and dedicated professional who specializes in Trauma-Focused Therapy using her own journey of personal growth and development as the basis for her healing work. Even though she uses traditional methods like EMDR, Rosa thrives through methods that involve more spiritual-mind-body connections like Havening and Trauma-Focused Yoga. We talk about her purpose, where she is able to guide folks back to their own medicina/medicine and how she helps them connect with that part of themselves that is already wise, that already knows, so they can be their own healers. Through her own healing, she has been able to help her patients connect with their inner child and connect to their ancestors which in turn takes them on a path of ancestral healing that makes the work so fulfilling as she has achieved healing for families altogether. Rosa flows from her strong intuition and connection to her ancestors that has given her the ability to provide a safe space for spiritual practice within her community. To learn more about Rosa’s work please check out her Website, find her on Instagram or listen to her Podcast. Overcoming Impostor Syndrome as a Boricua Psychologist in the U.S. with Dr. Frances Vidot
Today on Licensed Psychologist, Now What? Podcast I have the honor and privilege to have a conversation with Dr. Frances Vidot who recently finished my six-month mentorship program that just ended in September of this year. Frances is not only a fellow psychologist but also a Boricua like me and we share some similarities in our journeys coming to the U.S. and getting licensed here in this country. We talk about her journey and experience going through the process of getting licensed here in the US, and how even though it wasn’t her first choice she feels that life itself placed her in the city of LA where she fell in love with the way of living. She currently specializes in Trauma Psychology and works mostly with the LatinX community which she enjoys immensely because she feels she can give back to her community and help fill the gaps and voids these people suffer in their everyday life. We also talk about her challenges being a Latina in the industry especially about dealing with Impostor Syndrome, and how she has been able to heal by talking about her issues and giving herself the time and care she needs as an individual. If you or anybody you know have recently moved to the U.S. and is going through a similar transition this episode is for you! Reclaiming Joy with Anjuli Sherin, LMFT
Today on Licensed Psychologist, Now What? Podcast I have the honor and privilege to welcome my colleague Anjuli Sherin @anjulisherinmft! I had the pleasure to meet Anjuli through social media which has been a game-changer for this podcast versus my previous one because I have been able to meet more of my wonderful colleagues around the world. One of the reasons I wanted to do this podcast in the first place was to be able to get to know other therapists' experiences and stories and their journeys becoming a therapist. This is one of those amazing stories about how Social Media can connect two like-minded people and have an amazing outcome. Anjuli is a Pakistani-American Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Northern California. Anjuli is the author of the award-winning book: Joyous Resilience: A Path to Individual Healing and Collective Thriving in a Inequitable World; a book about finding joy and helping others feel more alive while finding the joys in the simple things life has to offer us. In her journey of self-discovery, she learned to do this for herself, not just for others as she re-discovered the things that made her feel alive besides her career, like traveling and getting to spend time with her loved ones. To learn more about Anjuli’s work make sure to follow her on Instagram where you can find her guided meditations and more information about her Book. Becoming a Psychologist After Experiencing Trauma with Dr. Claudia Alvarado
Today on Licensed Psychologist, Now What? Podcast I am happy to introduce Dr. Claudia Alvarado, the first college graduate in her family, and a proud member of the LatinX community. She started out her career wanting to be a social worker but her path took her to the fashion styling world and after working in the entertainment industry and suffering the abuse and mistreatment that is an everyday thing she decided to go back to school to pursue her psychology degree. Currently, she works with veterans and helps them overcome their trauma. Listening to her inside voice was what helped her overcome the challenges she was being subjected to. As she started to give meaning to that calling she was able to make a life change by figuring out what to do in order to help other people overcome their own traumas. To find out more about Claudia and her services, please check out her Instagram account; @extrahaute, the documentary A Ghost Ruined my Life on @discoveryplus, and the movie Melancholy. Overcoming Self-Doubt with Yuritzy Gomez, AMFT
Welcome back to another episode of my new podcast, ‘Licensed Psychologist, Now What?’. A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of interviewing my fellow colleague, Yuritzy Gomez, AMFT @mftyuri who was able to share some wonderful insight into her story of becoming a psychotherapist and how she has been able to overcome self-doubt in this journey of growth and determination. Her story of a first-generation Latinx woman is an inspiring example. Yuritzy was able to figure out early in her life that her calling was to help her community in any way she could and by listening to this call she became the therapist and coach she is today not before breaking the barriers that come with the conditioning that trained therapists are subject to in their journey to become a licensed therapist. Even though she still treats patients in CA, she also offers Life Coaching which is a service she can provide to people anywhere in the Country. For her, coaching is a great tool because she helps her clients work towards achieving a goal no matter their past vs. with therapy, to be able to overcome trauma-related issues she needs to look at her patients’ past to figure out a way to work through this in the present. To find out more about Yuritzy and her services, please check out her Instagram account where she has all the information about availability for therapy and coaching services. Therapist and Mom; Finding the Balance with Andrea Vargas, LMHC
Today on the ‘Licensed Psychologist, Now What?’ podcast I am delighted to have a former guest from ‘The Beyond Resilience Life’ podcast and colleague, Andrea Vargas, LMHC and Registered Play Therapist (RPT-S). Andrea’s expertise is on people whose frontal lobe is not fully developed yet (as she describes it). Her patient base is kids ranging from 3 yrs old to early ’20s. She balances her life between her family (husband and 2 kids) and her private practice, and today she’s here to share with us how she balances it all! Andrea enjoys working with kids and since the beginning of her career as she began to discover her path she knew children were the audience she wanted to help. From personal experiences with therapy to being exposed to books and movies that portrayed what children go through in real life, it became clear to her that what fulfilled her professionally was to be able to enter a child’s world through play in a way that supports them mentally. Her mission also includes helping parents who are trying to help their kids succeed and flourish by coming into their own in the best way possible. As she embarks on to the next step in her journey where she is homeschooling her kids, she acknowledges how challenging this can be besides parenting, but she has learned to tap into the resources her community offers and believes that the ultimate goal for every person is to be able to find balance. To figure it out one day at a time. From Therapist to Coach; Lessons for Unbecoming with Kate Lally, Life Coach
Today, on my new podcast, ‘Licensed Psychologist, Now What? I have the honor and privilege to interview a dear mastermind colleague, Kate Lally, MA @katelallycoaching Kate shares how her journey of unbecoming albeit a very personal one, shows how it is possible for therapists to expand their services when going from Licensed Psychologist to Life Coach. As much as Kate enjoyed her studies and her path towards getting licensed she experienced an awakening as she worked on some personal struggles. After experiencing firsthand the need to expand the services somebody like herself could offer she decided to make a career change that would really help people uncover their truth, helping them step into who they really are. She enjoys coaching especially because of the level of investment of change and the different types of energy that come forward with her clients. That deeper, more spiritual connection she once seemed for herself is one she can offer and if you are interested in learning more about Kate you can find her on Instagram or her website To stay informed about the upcoming episodes, events, blog, and offerings make sure to SIGN UP for our Newsletter.
