#emmitttill #reparations #letstalk2 #drshort #drwinters Dr. Randy Short is a Washington, D.C. native, and is a descendant of long-established families in Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia dating back to the early colonial history of British North America. Short has worked in various fields since completing his Bachelor’s degree from Howard University in 1987. Since his early teens, Short worked as a volunteer for Washington City Councilman William Spaulding and for Congressman Walter Fauntroy and worked for New Jersey Congressman Robert Torricelli. After completing his B.S. at Howard University. Short was executive assistant to the President of the National Corporation for Housing Partnerships in Washington, until he relocated to Boston to attend Harvard in 1988. Short has worked in media PBS NewsHour,  Boston’s experimental television program “The Group”  (WGBH 1991), the Voice of America Portuguese Africa Division, the Washington Post, the Washington Afro-American, News Dimensions, and for university publications (Howard University Hilltop, Howard University Law School Barrister, District Chronicles, and University of Virginia’s Pride, Skandaline, Cavalier Daily/University Journal). Short began doing radio programs in the 1970s at WYCB 1340 AM, and has been featured guest on Radio One (WOL), WPFW (Washington, D.C.), WCHB (Detroit), KPFA (Los Angeles), and WBAI (New York City). Dr. Short has been featured as a guest on radio, film productions, and television programs since the 1970s starting with the National Park Service’ “Vegetable Olympics” (1976), It’s Academic (1980-1983), the Charlie Rose Show (1980), Teen Exchange (1981-1983), BET Teen Summit (1995-1997), The Joe Madison Show (1997-1998) WHMM Ethical Forum (1984-1985), Carol Randolph Show (1987), the McNeil Lehrer NewsHour (1987), and the Phil Donahue Show (1986), Lew Colson Show (1994-1996), Eric Saint James Show (1994-1996), Audrey Chapman Show (1999), and the Carl Nelson Show (2015-2018).

In 2011, Short twice accompanied the Honorable Cynthia McKinney to Libya. An informed and excellent researcher and speaker, Short is regularly featured on FM/AM/blog radio programs nationally. Since 2011, Short has been a commentator on Russia Today News, PressTV, Al Alam, El Tejah News, Atlantic Television News, FARS news service, SAFARTV, RT, Abby Martin's "Breaking The Set", Voice of America Portuguese Africa, RTAC, WJLA-New Channel 8, Belarus National News, INFOWARS, DC Cablevision, Pacifica Radio raising issues that range from wars in Mali, Syria, Somalia, and Libya to helping to break the stories of the murders of Ramarley Graham and Trayvon Martin internationally. His Ph.D. in African and African American history. Short taught History and Religion at Bowie University and Lane College, former Executive Director of the Prince George’s County Youth Commission, Board of Rebecca Project for Human Rights, and serves on the Board of the Coalition of Adoption Programs. As a Howard Univ. student leader, Short forced the school to grant honorary doctorates to Kwame Ture and organized the “Stop the Genocide in Darfur” campaign in 2004. Short is a columnist-contributor to Conservative Digital News, and he has published articles in Black Agenda Report, the Baltimore-Washington Afro-American, News Dimensions, Howard University Community News, Howard University Hilltop, Howard University Barrister, Short helped Myrlie Evers Williams and Rev. C.T. Vivian combat the burning of Black churches in the 1990s. Short aided the creation of the first Afro-Latin Human Rights Roundtable for the Congressional Black Caucus and been Amnesty International's Country Specialist for Sudan (2002-2005). As an opponent to the “War on Drugs” Short partnered with the late Dr. C. Delores Tucker to secure presidential pardons for Kemba Smith and Dorothy Gaines in 2000. As the President and Founder of the Anti-Depo Provera Clergy Coalition, he has presented before Congressman William L. Clay, Jr. and the Congressional Black Caucus regarding the need to outlaw Depo Provera. He also works alongside anti-Eugenics activist Elaine Riddick. Short has a book on the famed missionary the Rev. William H. Sheppard and genocide in the Congo to be published in 2019. Short helped edit and write the report “Depo Provera: Deadly Reproductive Violence”.Presently, Short is the Policy Director of Rebecca Project for Justice and is the Pastor for Salvation and Liberation Temple LLC. Since 2011, Short has been a collaborator with American-Iranian documentary filmmaker and Press TV anchor Marzieh Hashemi, and they have made two films “The Facade of the American Dream” (2013), “Died Scott Nation” (2015), and he was featured in the critically acclaimed documentary film on race in America titled “Black White and Blue”. Short was a featured presenter for the #1 ranked Amazon.com 2021 documentary Buck Breaking. Short is the convener of the 2019 Gone Too Far Movement organized to oppose H.R. 5 the Gay Equality Act.
