As a sports journalist, there has been a dramatic shift on how we cover and consume sports in a newsroom. The advancement of social media has fundamentally transformed how we perceived all angles of the process as well. Dr. Craig Greenham, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Kinesiology at the University of Windsor. Before joining the academic ranks, he was a sports journalist. While covering sports, Dr. Greenham’s interest in the history that shaped and provided meaning to current events as well as the underlying sociocultural layers of athletics prompted a shift in career toward deeper scholarly inquiry. The primary focus of Dr. Greenham’s research is North American professional sports – particularly baseball, hockey and Canadian football. He joined me this week to have an engaging discussion on the evolution of sports journalism and the intersection of sports history.
