Thank you!!!
I’ve shared this with every parent I can think of.
Thank you for doing the research and taking the time to share it with all of us.

Woulda been 5 stars
A wonderful, moving, and nuanced podcast. -1 Star for having that absolute hack Taylor Lorenz as part of it.

Not Really
They’ve taken many one off stories and tried to feed them to us as though this is the norm. I’m around a ton of teenagers and it seems just like the teenagers of my youth. There’s a couple moody ones, a few antisocial’s, and a few jocks. As a teen mom for the past several years, I find this podcast to be entirely untrue.

I went from afraid to informed
As a chronic technology over-user I was afraid of social media and similar tech (both for myself and for my kids) like I was afraid of germs or disease. This podcast helped me understand the mechanisms of social media, its risks, benefits, and I am now an informed user and parent.

THANK YOU
For real. As a mom of two young girls I’ve been terrified. This podcast gives me something I can use to educate them as they enter tween years and start teasing for phones. I am beyond grateful to all who participated in this. Please don’t stop.

Really good
I think this is a great podcast. Gives a lot of really good perspectives on how social media and technology is affecting kids. Worth a listen for sure. (But I have to say, ep 8, the Jay Leno Monica Lewinsky clip - that was not in 1988. Fact check!)

Worth your time
A gripping and informative must-listen for anyone in the 21st century. Thoughtful reporting, so engaging and a brilliant mix of research and personal stories. I appreciated the different perspectives the podcast featured.

My son was exposed to a great deal of social media primarily YouTube videos, Roblox, and TikTok. As a child with autism and ADHD, it was easy to soothe him with tech. At the same time I could see the changes. This podcast really opened my eyes.
Great show got me thinking.
Fantastic
Well researched, thought provoking, interesting and timely listen. I am in awe of the brave children who came forward with these very personal stories. The host has a lovely and sweet voice and she gives care and attention to these stories and the broader view of how internet/social media is affecting lives, for the bad and also for good too. Highly recommend!

A Great Listen
So well done and the content is so eye-opening. Thank you for bringing much needed awareness to what is happening to our youth while our eyes are pinned on our screens.

Should win awards
SO GOOD- balanced but engaging, comprehensive, thoughtful journalism and also just great art. It's a must listen. Bravo Ava and the Toronto Star. I was riveted to every episode, but as a Xennial who grew up in Colorado, I had chills hearing Maddie's story in the final ep and what that generation went through, and was near tears knowing that we had it so easy in comparison. Please everyone listen and share this series!

A must listen
As a child psychologist and researcher I have grown increasingly concerned with the nature of kids’ content exposure on social media. However, I was fairly naive regarding the ubiquity of younger and younger exposure to certain material (e.g. violent porn) that isn’t being sought out & the various avenues to access. This podcast is further strengthened by engaging not only experts but the young adults reporting on their own childhood harms.

A must listen
I found this podcast very informative. I have forwarded the show to several new parents who are working hard to keep their toddlers off screens. Thank you for the hard work.

Thank you!!!
As someone who was apart of the “guinea pig” generation with MySpace and Facebook, I’m still struggling with my own addiction into my mid 30s. It has been hard to parent my child AND myself when it comes to tech. I’m glad this is being talked about and actions are being taken.

I wish parents understood that because something exists it doesn't mean it's safe and has your best interest in mind. Know what your kids are watching and don't shame them..There is much more to this than we comprehend.
As for the corporations that are never held accountable, we need to know why.

Good but no good
The subject matter is very interesting and desperately needed in our current culture. However, I can’t get past the misuse of pronouns. It undermines the whole podcast and will not be listening anymore.

10 stars!
Idk who is giving this pod 1 star and not writing a review. Makes me wonder if it’s Mark Zuckerberg himself because this podcast is POWERFUL. I think every single person in the world needs to hear this podcast and that it could spark a revolution.
Well done Ava Smithing and keep up the good work!

Well done and interesting podcast
As someone who was just starting college at the same time that Facebook was introduced, it is so helpful to me to have insight into the generation after me that had to navigate an adolescence with that kind of technology. I have two kids now, under 5, and I am grateful for the even-handed research and depth of conversation on this subject!

MUST LISTEN
It’s easy to just blame technology, but this show has done a great job collecting different perspectives, and staying objective. They allow the stories and facts they collect to speak for themselves, but Ava does not shy away from sharing her own story and opinions. This fresh perspective from a fellow young person keeps the show relatable and even more compelling. These topics are very heavy, and she has done a great job navigating each topic she discusses. 10/10!

Important Topics to Consider!
This podcast does an excellent job of laying out different aspects of technology and its impact on kids. Ava does a great job presenting multiple sides to the issues. I found myself wholeheartedly agreeing at times and fervently disagreeing at others. That is often an indication to me of someone trying to put out all of the information rather than just trying to bring us to one side. I appreciate the topics that this podcast brings to light.

Wow
Thank you for talking about these scary subjects…the internet can be especially scary and dangerous for children and teens…adults and those in charge of policy need to hear this and take these online interactions seriously…thank you for educating people and please continue to be a voice for those who can’t speak or be heard.

WOW !!! 5 ⭐️
This podcast is the first time I have heard a young person addressing the problems facing young people. In an excellently produced podcast, Ava navigates important and sensitive conversations about the impact of technology and social media on my generation. The stories are captivating, inspiring, tragic, and encompass the complexities of a derisive topic. This podcast is so important to understanding technology as a consumer and how it has impacted the lives of people worldwide. Thank you Ava and Toronto Star!
