I really enjoyed this episode especially when Ricardo said how college’s need to change their sacrosanct missions. That is when you truly see if the rhetoric matches the priorities. A commitment to DEI isn’t a 90 minute workshop for the staff or the hire of a diversity officer. Those are first steps. But colleges and corporations need to set the tone and be the role models. It sounds like his university is going in the right direction which is good to hear.

A Scholarly Space for Latinx in Higher Education
This podcast is important to any Latinx individuals navigating higher education. As a Ph.D student in Mississippi, this podcast reminds me why I’m doing what I’m doing. Often times I feel like I’m the only person that researches Latinx populations in my geographic region because of the small population. This podcast gives me a sense of scholarly community that I do not have physically at my institution.
