I finally got the opportunity to speak with a resident and indigene of Bokkos, the Local Government in Plateau State where over a dozen villages were attacked the night before Christmas 2023.
According to him, many displaced people are still in IDP camps, but are forced to return and harvest their Irish potatoes during the day, because of theft.
Mallo also talks a bit about the relationship between Bokkos people and the Fulanis.
A breakdown of casualties:
Butura (32 killed, 1 missing)
Mbar (29 killed)
Mangor (44 dead, 50 injured, 3 missing)
Mazat (10 killed)
Bokkos ( 29 killed)
Tangur (6 killed)
Mushere (2 killed)

A nostalgic morning. I joined Abigail and Emeka on the Morning Jay (which I used to host).
Former Station Manager, Mr Mangna Wamyil, was a part of the conversation and celebration, too!
The number of times and ways they asked if we thought radio would stay relevant in the next few years...lol!!
No fear 🙂 Radio is still here for a bit.

What started out as a random, casual conversation turned out... well... Interesting 🙂. I have a chat with three young men here in Jos about their thoughts on Jos women. At this point, I plead the fifth. Do give me some feedback! ...and look out for a right of reply edition (Jos Boys)!

Young Nigerians across the country have been on the streets demanding that the Special Anti-robbery Squad (SARS) be disbanded, amongst other things. Their voices have been heard the world over, and the government has promised (yet again) to dissolve the unit and reform the police. I spoke to young protesters at the gate of the state house of assembly on the 12th of October 2020, and also to a few random people elsewhere in Jos concerning the issue. Panels have been set up across the country, in various states, to look into allegations of abuse raised by the public, and are expected to conclude hearings in half a year.

Thanks to everyone listening, sharing, and giving feedback so far! On this Episode, we slowly move the conversation from the patient's point of view to the professionals'. I feel like I got more questions than answers when I asked, "What does it mean to be well/normal?" Can't even lie, I got confused trying to tie thoughts together based on the reaction at some point in the first half, lol! ...so I asked the good Doc in the second!! I'd love to hear from you: @krissypearlie on Twitter, @safetalks2 on Facebook, or (better yet) just leave a voice note on Anchor! Thanks again to Caleb Ayinzat for those guitar riffs, and to Godwin Asukwo, Kimberly Nwachukwu, Melda and Morgan Azi for sweepers. Best for last: Thanks also to Emmanuella, Victor, Dozie and Mariam!
