Covering two developments that have slipped under the radar, Bangladesh has been gripped with civil unrest and Venezuela’s future ambiguous following its recent general elections. Although oceans apart it is nonetheless developments worth mentioning and worth pondering as the world continues to wrestle with geopolitical uncertainties.
Bangladesh is suffering from episodes of protests with university students rallying to oppose the civil service quota that has been in place since the revolution resulting in loss of life at the hands of the Bangladeshi government’s security forces. Venezuela emerging from a general election without a decisive outcome stirs the United States to deliberate handling the socialist government in favour of its opposition allies.
Haffisz and Adi will look into how these separate episodes will affect current affairs moving forward and, to what extent will these events continue to reverberate across the international community?
(This episode was recorded last week so we were unable to cover the recent development regarding the resignation of Sheikh Hasina and her escaping the country. We will certainly revisit this topic in the near future)
