Greater Atlanta Christian School Defensive Coordinator Joshua Aldrin joins KYPD for episode #150! Today, Coach Aldrin discusses the transition from college to high school coach and making the change from defensive line coach to defensive coordinator. Coach gives his advice on overcoming self-doubt in new roles and learning secondary play before diving into some of his coaching progressions for defensive line play.

In Episode #149 of KYPD, we welcome on Coach Herbert Moore, founder of 901 Trench Work, a Defensive Line training organization based in Memphis, TN. The former Ole Miss standout has a passion for coaching defensive linemen, and in this episode, we discuss Coach's pass rush philosophy, coaching progression, and some of his favorite drills. Coach also discusses the first pass rush and counter move he coaches young guys and when to use each. We touch on coach's favorite block destruction drills and the one thing he thinks most coaches should spend their time teaching when coaching the defensive line.

In episode #148, University of Arkansas Defensive End Landon Jackson, and University of Indiana Defensive Tackle Marcus Burris join KYPD! The guys, both 2020 graduates of Pleasant Grove High School in Texarkana, Texas won two state championships in high school and were two of the highest recruited players in the State of Texas when they were in high school. They look back on their recruiting process and discuss things they wish they would've done differently and then give advice to current high school athletes involved in the recruiting process today. We then talk about lessons they learned while playing high school ball, and what they've learned about playing defensive line since they've gotten to college.

In this episode of KYPD, we are joined by Old Dominion Defensive Line Coach Victor Irokansi. In our conversation we discuss Coach Vic's football journey up to this point that has spanned the country. We then get into Coach Vic's coaching progression for his defensive line, including how he's coaching things like stance, slant techniques, and block destruction. We touch on the Monarch's multiple front defense and then close out our conversation with Coach Vic discussing how he coaches pass rush with his guys.

In episode #146, we welcome Texas Southern Cornerbacks Coach Darren Garrigan! Coach Garrigan talks about his coaching career up to this point which has been highlighted by a national championship and multiple conference championships. We then get into Coach Garrigan's philosophy in teaching/installing coverages including Cover 2 and Cover 3, how they handle various offensive formations, motions, and route combinations, and how Coach Garrigan uses his individual time. We then discuss the current state of recruiting and Coach Garrigan gives both high school athletes and high school coaches advice on navigating the recruiting process.

KYPD is BACK with season 4! To kick off this season, we welcome on UTSA Wide Receivers Coach Joe Price. Coach Price and the Roadrunners just wrapped up an 11-3 campaign, back-to-back Conference USA Championships and bowl bids and are one of the hottest programs in the country. Today, we talk with the longtime Texas High School Football Coach about his rapid rise from high school assistant to Division 1 assistant coach and the lessons he's learned along the way. We get into the Roadrunners' unique culture that the staff has built at UTSA and how that has led to their success on the field. I also ask Coach Price, who is a former high school recruiting coordinator for advice for us high school coaches trying to get our guys recruited in the era of the transfer portal.

In the Season 3 Finale, Coach Nick Goeser, Defensive Line Coach of the reigning national champion North Dakota State Bison. The Bison have won the NCAA FCS National championship nine times in the past eleven seasons and won the 2021 championship this past season over Montana. Today, Coach Goeser and Coach Taylor discuss the toughness that characterizes the culture of the NDSU program and how the staff manages to keep their guys from growing complacent. Coach Goeser then discusses the Bison's four down front and how he coaches up defending the run. Coach covers double teams, EDD's, and how they play zone read and power schemes before closing out with his method for breaking down opponent's run game.

Bare Knuckle Boxer title contender Quinten Henry joins the podcast for episode #143! Quinten talks about his life growing up and what drew him to fighting professionally. We talk about the physical training that goes into preparing for a fight and then discuss the mental discipline that it takes to be a successful fighter. We close out by talking about Quentin's struggles in his personal life and how his recommitment to his faith has helped him become a better father, husband, and fighter.

In this one-of-a-kind episode, Coach Taylor chats with six wives of Texas high school coaches, including his own wife, Chelsea. Coach asks them about the inherent challenges that come with being a coach's wife, including handling things at home while their husbands are working during the season, moving to take a new job, and dealing with criticism from fans and the community. We also talk about the joys of being the wife of a coach and close out our conversation with each wife sharing moments that made them proud of their husbands.

In this episode of KYPD "Inside Drill" Coach Taylor discusses simple drills to work into your individual periods both in season and in the off season that will work on your Defensive Line's get off, creating knock back, and escaping blocks. Coach breaks down coaching points and cues for each drill and then shows tape of those same drills translating into games. Coach Taylor closes out this episode breaking down his failure to tackle a calf while at a rodeo with his family.
