“Millennial Karen Locked on Balcony” intro by David Kato [I’ve gotten locked out on our balcony once before, as documented in an old episode. Bizarrely, I managed to get audio of a neighbor on a bordering property going through the same experience, months after mine. What makes this neighbor a Karen is that she’s walked her dog over onto our apartment property at least two separate times to let her dog piss and shit next to the swimming pool she doesn’t pay to rent. Karens are great performers and know how to turn on the manners when it benefits them. Through the three combined clips, 1) she gets the attention of a passerby, they discuss how she got locked out (watering her plants), if her front door is unlocked, if she can climb down (there’s no point, she’d still be locked out), & if she’s called anyone. The passerby leaves to go check the manager’s office. 2) Karen hears back from her boyfriend, who can’t get there for a couple hours. 3) The passerby returns, saying that the property manager is on their way. You can hear Karen’s dog going berserk, barking from inside the unit as Karen waits helplessly, pondering her next dumb move to wreak havoc on the world.]“Momma Miss America” theme by Laws & J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League“Doin’ Time (Summertime Supercut)(LDR Remake + Original + Eerie Splendor Remix + LDR Instrumentals)” outro by Sublime, Lana Del Rey, & Mad LionToday, we discuss the BS of receiving medical insurance bills a year later, the irony of fear-based gun ownership, the 401k retirement scam, acknowledging the side-effects of what you want, prayer & faith vs action & education, the BS banking practice of listing one large single purchase as multiple transactions, thoughts on the milk industry, and a conspiracy theory about preventing protests.Audio samples created & owned by their original license holders. “July Birds (Ambient Sound)” intro by David Kato“Momma Miss America” theme by Laws & J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League“That’s What I Like” interlude by Bruno Mars“Epic” outro by B.o.B.We got halfway through this episode and seriously began questioning whether Dave got his old notes mixed in with his new notes, wondering if we had actually already recorded this show. But we’re pretty sure we haven’t…pretty sure…we hope. The cherry on top: Ashley once again lost her audio for the second half of the show. I’m not keeping track, but I’m pretty sure that’s her fourth time, while I haven’t lost my audio once. Welcome to the clusterfuck. We reflect on what we’ve been up to over hiatus, Dave struggling with finding purpose & motivation, struggling to resolve our petty fights that feel big at the time, apartment neighbor annoyances, cool mockingbird neighbors, a useful online voting tool at VotersEdge.org, brand loyalty recommendations, questionable marketing, taking risks & chances only on things you’re innately attracted to, improv vs speech class in school, a conspiracy about fan edit movies, the ethical entertainment Will Smith says he aspires for, the questionable efficacy of car alarms, Amazon’s devious efforts to scam their customers, and the uselessness of comparing ourselves to famous successful people.Audio samples created & owned by their original license holders. “G&L vs Katt Williams (Ambient Sound)” intro by David Kato [This is a recording of our old white neighbors loudly listening to a stand-up bit called “Church & Atheists” on Katt Williams’ HBO special “Priceless Afterlife.” We have heard them loudly reading the Bible multiple times with their windows & door wide open for all to hear and have also observed them trying to convert a mentally disabled elderly neighbor of ours on two separate occasions. However, despite their religious holier-than-thou facade, they have no problem cussing and loudly using the n-word. “G” prepped the clip to play his wife and says “This is fucked up” to brace her for what Katt is about to say. “L” gasps and responds by saying “motherfucker” and drops an n-bomb, while “G” makes a remark about Katt doing it as a “revenge joke.” This is part of the deeply disturbing hypocrisy & hatred I witnessed during my 18 years in the church, which continues festering to this day.]“Momma Miss America” theme by Laws & J.U.S.T.I.C.E.
