I feel so lucky to have found this podcast. I haven’t studied the Bible in so long, but this podcast makes it just so digestible and enjoyable. I look forward to listening every day and it’s been helping to strengthen my relationship with Jesus. Thank you so much and please keep these episodes coming!

I am not following the reading plan but have been using this podcast as a supplement to my reading and it has been so helpful to gain more context and understanding. It has helped me mediate more deeply on the Word.

Pastor Doug’s knowledge of Hebrew and the Old Testament provides such insight and is so helpful. It goes beyond the commentary in my Study Bible and I feel that I have a better understanding for the “why and “how” things happen in the Bible and God’s plan for His people.

So insightful and knowledgeable. Not only do we get deep insight into God’s Word, but Doug’s ability to draw out the nuances and “nuggets” within the text is so valuable and useful to our daily walk with the Lord. Incredibly valuable!

Doug’s Journey Through Scripture podcast is awesome, totally awesome. It’s day 181 and I’m already feeling sad that this podcast is almost halfway done. I’m going to miss Doug’s commentary: his insight; his historical and archeological references; his theories; his translations; and his personal experiences. I am so thankful that Pastor Doug has taken the time to put this together. I’ve tried to read through the Bible in a year on my own and always end up feeling lost/monotonous. Not only am I gaining so much more knowledge and understanding of each section of scripture, but I now have a resource to go back to any time a question about the meaning of a particular passage comes up. Doug makes reading and understanding each of the passages more beneficial. Doug also gives background which helps to understand the times and the people’s to whom scripture is given. I like how he incorporates the Hebrew words and pronunciations. Knowing how the names sound and what the derivatives are just adds so much color to the passages. Thank you Doug for how you engage us with your knowledge of scripture and the bits of humor you also use. You have a great style!

Doug’s teaching through this 1-year, Bible reading plan is fantastic.

Having known Pastor Doug for the better part of a decade and ministered with him, I can tell you this podcast is only scratching the surface of the wisdom God has granted him about the Scriptures. That said, the surface scratch is plenty enough for the vast majority of people who want to grow in biblical insight. The beauty of this being Doug is that he’s an expert on not only Bible background, but also application. I’ve seen him apply the Word of God to his life day in and day out, and I’m grateful we all have this resource to glean from.

Doug Becker is far more of a capable and deep-thinking scholar than his approachable and humble humor would have you assume. He brings with his insight an incredible wit and integrity which, suffice to say, is a truly unique combination of characteristics in anyone. Grateful for his knowledge, and for his discipline to be willing to do the work of sharing it with us. You would do well to add his content to your daily and weekly routine.

Doug brings an approachable take on the grammatical and hermeneutical insights that can easily be missed in the Bible. He brings kindness to his tone when many teachers of this kind of content do not seem able to deliver this helpful content with that tone.

I can’t believe this resource will be available to the church for personal and discipleship use! His explanations are clear and thoughtful, and he’s applying the Word constantly. Listen and grow in your faith!
