Today's episode is about entrepreneurship, specifically, leadership and how to set your team up for success regarding expectations, boundaries, and growth. When you communicate, you are likely to have a positive outcome in any situation, even when the conversation is challenging and not all sunshine and rainbows.

Highlight - Setting them up for success with your expectations

- there's a lot to be learned about leading a team from being a mom and vice versa - why you shouldn't try to fix problems and “Paint the room,” ask questions & empower your team with choices

- Provide a clear line of communication and highlight the "chain of command."

- Identifying when to let someone go and how that's doing them a favor

- How to help an employee get to that decision on their own “is this filling your cup” vs. firing them

- How to communicate kindly to ensure you don't lose an employee when you need to have hard conversations

- why you shouldn't be giving a compliment sandwich

- a brief touch on time management and time blocking to make sure you make time to create and share your roadmap

- authentic leadership, no matter what happens, it's all on you

Books we talk about ( I didn't mention all of these by name, but all incredible Brene Brown books to dive into)

Dare to lead

Rising Strong

Atlas of the heart

Daring Greatly

The Gifts of Imperfection

Services we love that are mentioned in this episode

Slack- team communication

Todoist- team todos, task assignment and organization

GUSTO - payroll, employee handbooks & more

Ultimately you can serve up tough love, but to ensure you're not setting yourself up for disappointment while setting your team up for failure it's important to nurture your leadership skills. By providing clear expectations and making communication a priority you can build a successful team or even turn one around. It takes a lot of self-reflection and honesty, so buckle up because it's a wild and worthwhile ride.
