Recorded live from Antarctica, psychedelic attorney Joshua Kappel joins host Alli Schaper to explore the rapidly unfolding frontier of psychedelic policy in the United States. With nearly two decades in drug policy reform, Josh shares his journey from helping draft Denver’s first psilocybin decriminalization initiative to co-authoring Colorado’s Natural Medicine Health Act, helping create a more regulated path for psychedelic healing while easing restrictions around personal use.Together, they explore the space where underground culture meets formal regulation, and what it takes to translate lived experience into policy that actually works.Alli and Josh get into:Three Pathways of Reform: From federal pharmaceutical routes to state-regulated models and local decriminalization, a look at how change is unfolding across systems. The Rise of Microdosing: As low-dose use becomes more common, policy is still catching up to how people are actually engaging with these medicines.A New Model in New York: Early insights into a proposed permit system that could allow safe, at-home access to tested, low-dose psychedelics through education.Story as Catalyst: How real stories from veterans, first responders, and families are shaping the momentum behind reform. From Citizen Science to Clinical Trials: Why real-world data is playing such a big role in informing research and what comes next.As this next wave of reform takes shape, the conversation comes back to how we balance access, safety, and integrity while honoring the communities that have carried this work forward.—TIMESTAMPS0:36 Introduction1:10 Welcoming Psychedelic Attorney Josh Kappel1:46 Josh’s Path Into Psychedelic Law and Advocacy3:50 The Current State of Psychedelic Policy in the U.S.11:04 Building the Microdosing Collective and Policy That Reflects Real-World Use19:12 Storytelling as a Catalyst for Policy Change23:31 How Culture Shapes the Future of Mental Health Policy28:22 Honoring the Cultural Origins of These Medicines31:18 Josh’s Most Important Lesson From Psychedelics—Josh Kappel: https://www.instagram.com/thepsychedeliclawyer—Step into the Multiverse with us...Shop Supermush: https://supermush.com/ our in house brand of the most effective and delicious functional mushroom supplements.Use Code: ITM15 for 15% offInto the Multiverse Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/intothemultiverse/

We also get to hear a little bit more about Danielle story and how the fungi kingdom found her and lead her to where she is today. Please enjoy the following conversation with Danielle Broida

Danielle Broida:Danielle Ryan Broida, RH (AHG) is a pivotal voice in the nutrition and functional mushroom and adaptogen space. As a Registered Herbalist (RH) of the American Herbalists Guild (AHG), Certified Holistic Nutritionist, Instructor of Mycology, and National Educator of Four Sigmatic, Danielle is teaching the world about the importance of functional foods and herbal medicine for a vital life. Prior to joining forces with Four Sigmatic, she received her BA in Environmental Studies and Philosophy from Whitman College. She went on to study Ayurveda in India and became a Certified Yoga Instructor on the banks of the Ganges River. Then she became a Certified Raw Chef and Detox Coach while working with a Naturopathic Doctor in Indonesia. But it was leading trekking adventures into the backcountry of Thailand where she became particularly fascinated by herbal medicine (while becoming fluent in Thai). After several years in Asia, she landed in Boulder, Colorado to formalize her education in holistic medicine. Upon completing her graduate studies at the Colorado School of Clinical Herbalism (CSCH), she opened her private practice where she worked with hundreds of clients specializing in functional mushroom-based treatment for individuals with auto immune conditions. She was invited to become the Instructor of Mycology at CSCH, where she still teaches. Danielle brings her passion and expertise in herbal medicine, clinical practice, teaching, formulation, and her deep love for fungi to everything she does.
