I just listened to episode 7 where you guys talk about Washington’s ban on fishing from a boat on the OP. As someone who lives on a SW WA winter steelhead river I bare witness to the effects a volcano, logging, fishing and climate change have on a system. I’d be curious to know if there are any studies that look at the effects of ocean commercial fishing in BC and how many WA/OR salmon and steelhead they catch either intentionally or unintentionally? My understanding is that many of the OP and Columbia River fish migrate north. It seems impossible to me that commercial fisheries would be to target specific fish runs and only harvest “Canadian” fish or “American” fish, respectfully. Enjoy your podcasts April! This podcast was a welcome surprise when I found it. As with all things human, there are multiple angles from which to view an issue. This podcast provides a discussion forum for those most intimately familiar with an issue to present their view and why they hold it. Science is welcome whenever science is being developed on the issue.

It’s so refreshing to listen to a discussion by experts who are driven by scientific inquiry rather than simply arguing on behalf of one side or the other.

These topics are so contentious and I’m so glad you’ve provided a platform to tackle them! Loved em both! Thanks April!!
