Me and my family are huge fans of Brandon Sanderson. When I found out that he has a podcast, I knew I had to listen to it. It’s so funny and entertaining. I especially love the tier lists and them talking about movies

They talk about nothing, but it’s so entertaining!

I’ve become an avid reader in my mid twenties after never really finishing a book. Brandon was the author that introduced my ADHD riddled brain to truly fantastical worlds and characters worth remembering. The discussions in this podcast are unserious, fun, and often give insight into why these authors are so amazing. They get me through my subway journey every day.

Cringey but good fun. Best by far when they’re talking about movies, adaptations and media.

I enjoy listening to these with my parents during long car drives. My dad and I love Sanderson’s books and appreciate their commentary in the podcasts.

Dan Wells consistently speaking poorly to or about other people is a disappointing addition to an otherwise enjoyable show with the talented Brandon Sanderson.

This podcast from the food heists to Brando Sando is a surreal experience. As an aspiring author I have been giving great advise on how to become one I just ask this one question though to Dan how do you get your head so shiny. I would also love to hear more episodes about cryptics or mythological monsters

The episode with Brandon and Steve Argyle discussing the uses and dangers of AI was fantastic. It was a detailed, cohesive, and powerful warning about the problems of AI in the creative space. The best part was the ending, where Brandon and Steve gave the listeners some very grounded and realistic ideas about how new artists can rise above the rapidly growing tide of AI content creation. I actually finished listening feeling a sense of hope in the strength of human connection and experience!

I AM A STICK

This is one of my favorite podcasts!! One of my friends got me into Sanderson, and he’s my favorite author now, so I obviously had to check out his podcast and I do not regret checking it out!! They talk about absolutely nothing and it can be quite ridiculous, but it’s really fun and I love it!! Half the time they talk about food *cough* in the last episode they talked entirely about food heists and pretzels and food that falls on the floor or that you find in strange places, but it’s very addicting and Sanderson is my favorite author so of course I like it!! It’s also interesting to hear about how publishing works, how sales rise and fall, and how Sanderson started writing.

This is an amazing podcast!

They talk about nothing. And when they have a topic (and rarer still stick to it) I haven’t watched what they’re talking about. Don’t kill me-I hadn’t read any Sanderson (or Dan) when I started this. So I don’t really know why I like it. This show lead me to “find” Sanderson (who is now one of my favorites) and gave me a new obsession. Oh, I gotta go there’s a new food heist.

Okay so I clicked on a podcast with an interesting subject matter, "Aliens Definitely Exist", but they spent 8 minutes on a 24 minute podcast with nonsensical banter that just went over my head before actually talking about the topic of the podcast. But I was fooled, they continued with nonsensical banter for 6 MORE minutes still not talking about the topic of the podcast. Then once finally talking about the topic it was inane, puerile drivel. Capybaras?? This podcast must appeal to some listeners but I am definitaly NOT one of them.

Shame on you lol

I adored this podcast, the insights they give towards writing and the craft is excellent, the breakdown of media is also very eye opening. However, all they talk about now is food and “food” heists. I’m just sick of hearing about food. As people get older it seems that’s the only thing they know how to talk about. It’s disgusting and I wish they could return to hosting an actual podcast.

Quirky and (at times) wholesomely twisted, Dan and Brandon play off each other in endearing exchanges about the most unexpected topics, which they make downright interesting. They’re sincere in their friendship, and it feels as though they pull the listener into that camaraderie with them. I can’t stop listening!

Why can’t I stop? THEY TALK ABOUT NOTHING!

This is casual podcasting in the best way. These guys just become your friends. Haven’t missed an episode. Delightful.

Dan is a national treasure. Period. And Brandon is every bit as wonderful to listen to here, as he is in his BYU Lectures and on his YouTube channel. I’ve been listening to the episodes in reverse order, while keeping up with the new weekly releases. I’m telling you, there is no better way to listen to this show. It’s like an Easter egg hunt—that’s the only way I can describe it. I heard about Jack the Car Jacking Car for episodes on end and when I finally made it back to the original mention, it felt like a triumph. Hearing two best friends (who are also both best selling authors) navigate different topics—including their life experiences—is so fun to listen to. Full of great stories, with a sprinkling of education in storytelling and authorship—I love Intentionally Blank.

I absolutely LOVE THIS PODCAST. I am a HUGE Sanderson nerd and it was a joy to find this.

How’s that Ben?

First, thank you Brandon, Dan and everyone else at Dragonsteel for creating such a exceptionally wonderful podcast. Each time an episode drops it bring so much joy to my week. Secondly, I know these messages are not specifically for me but for another Ben that exists in the world, but when almost every episode ends with the phrase, “How was that Ben?” I find myself responding out loud which leads to some embarrassment when I am in public spaces but also makes this podcast that much more enjoyable! Thank you for all that you do!

This podcast is the perfect thing to listen to whenever you’ve run out of audio books and your hands are busy. It’s splendidly entertaining, even if you’ve never read any books by Brandon Sanderson or Dan Wells. I 100% recommend. If only they released episodes every day! And now I’m curious to see why some people didn’t give it five stars—? This podcast is my excuse to work on like, laundry or something while listening because Brandon and Dan are so entertaining! For some episodes, they talk about things to which I cannot relate, such as a TV show I haven’t seen, et cetera. However, as I’m happy to report, I still find those episodes entirely worth listening to. It’s great.

It is hilarious to hear these guys go off on random topics, tangents off of those topics, and tangents off those tangents! Brandon Sanderson is possibly my favorite author, and now I want to read some of Dan Wells works as well. This is where I go to laugh!

Such a fun podcast!

I really enjoy listening to Brandon and Dan talk about pop culture. I was listening to the audio book of Augustine’s “City of God”, and needed a change of pace. This podcast was so perfect (it does what it sets out to do, doesn’t promise more than it delivers, and delivers more than it promises), that I listened to every episode in the space of about two weeks. It is a joy to listen to two published authors and “producers of culture” (a reference to C. S. Lewis’s article “Christianity and Culture”), discuss their informed opinions about important aspects of contemporary culture (i.e.- books, movies, social media, education, etc.). My ability to appreciate modern cinema and fiction books has been improved by listening to their discussions.

I am a reader and fan of both Brandon and Dan’s stuff, and listening to this podcast is like having them hanging out in my home every week. It’s fun and comfortable and I laugh and I learn stuff.

I always look forward to the new releases of this podcast. Even the ones that Brandon and Dan identify as being bad for whatever reason are enjoyable to listen to. This is in my top three podcasts.

I came here as a reader of everything Sanderson and Wells (and WoT). It’s hilariously entertaining to see these amazing workers and probably some of the best fiction authors we’ll ever see go on amusing tangets and life stories. Dan talking about how he was in the trenches filming his adaptation while Brandon says the actors of Mat and Rand got into a big crime. Another food heist. This is honestly the best podcast one could find

I came here as a Cosmere fan to listen to Brandon and "some friend of his." I started I Am Not A Serial Killer last month and am now halfway through the series. Consider this a compliment to your personality or something, Dan.

Brandon and Dan are just awesome. I love the fun tangents and funny stories. Overall just the best.

I love Brandon and Dan. I honestly could listen to this all day. There work is obviously great, but when some of your favorite authors go on long tangents it’s just so fun and funny. I could not recommend this enough. Even if you don’t like there incredibles work it’s great.

I’ve been a fan of Sanderson and Wells for a while now, and it’s great to hear them chat and riff on random topics, occasionally meaningful, always entertaining. Its refreshing to listen to something unpolitical, with a couple of real human beings. I look forward to it every week.

This podcast just makes my day. It is so fun to get inside my favorite author’s head on how he thinks about storytelling using pop culture as examples instead of just writing as they do in their other podcast. As I’m not a writer, writing excuses is interesting, but this is the perfect podcast for me.

I love this podcast so much!! I look forward to a new episode each week and I always am smiling or giggling while I listen. My favorite part is that each weeks topic is such a random fun surprise and so I never know what to expect. Brandon and Dan are such an iconic duo and I highly recommend everyone give this a listen even if they aren’t readers. It is a little nerdy but everyone has a little nerd in them ;) so I think most people will enjoy their insights and fun banter.

Perfect for anyone who enjoys books, film, and pop culture

It’s so fun to listen to these two just talk about what they enjoy talking about. It reminds me of the early days of Writing Excuses (but more random and hilarious) - fun and light and oh so enjoyable!

These guys are great and whether or not you enjoy them as authors, you will enjoy them as podcasters.

I love the balance stuck between critical analysis of art/media and dad humor. Light hearted, positive vibes. True mentors for aspiring creatives such as myself. But they also do NOT take themselves too seriously haha. Would recommend :)
