Writing instruction across the board is not fun and I feel that that is a big part of why students don't want to write. Kids go from being expected to write a sentence or two to writing paragraphs with text evidence, but there's no time to teach them the appropriate way to do that. However, I can't help but thinking if we give our students a true purpose to create something using their writing skills, then maybe we wouldn't have such pushback.
