Remote MU

On this week’s episode of Remote MU, we talk with three spring Mizzou graduates: Christian Cmehil-Warn, who is earning bachelor’s degrees in economics and statistics; Huong Truong, a graduate student earning a Master of Education from the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis; and Marissa Price, who is earning a Juris Doctor from our School of Law. Together, we discuss their final semester at Mizzou and how they plan to celebrate.

On this week’s episode of Remote MU, we talk with Kearra Johnson, a senior earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art with an emphasis in Graphic Design; and Zoe Rich, a junior earning her Bachelor of Arts in Art and Marketing. Together, we discuss how Mizzou artists are overcoming challenges, finding inspiration and staying creative during this extraordinary moment.

On this week’s episode of Remote MU, we talk with three Mizzou student-athletes: Hannah Schuchts, a graduate student earning her Master of Business Administration and a member of the Women’s Basketball Team; Riley Sents, a graduate student earning her Master of Education and a member of the Women’s Volleyball Team; and Jayson Ashford, a junior General Studies major and a Track and Field athlete. Together, we discuss how they’ve been impacted by social distancing and what they’re doing to stay at the top of their game.

On this week’s episode of Remote MU, we talk with Lorin Fahrmeier, the Farm to Institution Project Coordinator for the Youth and Family Division of University of Missouri Extension; and Justin Keay, a field specialist in horticulture for MU Extension in St. Louis and St. Charles Counties. Together, we discuss how Extension staff and faculty are connecting Missouri producers with consumers in order to provide healthy food and strengthen local economies.

On this week’s episode of Remote MU, we talk with UM System President and Mizzou Interim Chancellor, Dr. Mun Choi. We discuss how Mizzou is responding to the demands of social distancing and the many ways our community is still upholding its critical missions of research, teaching, inclusive excellence and engagement.

On this week’s episode of Remote MU, we talk with Lida Aflatoony, a PhD candidate in the Department of Textile and Apparel Management, who is part of a Mizzou team making personal protective equipment for health care workers; and Mathew Swan, a senior majoring in political science, who is the director of Tiger Pantry. Together, we discuss how Mizzou students are finding creative ways to volunteer and help our community during this unprecedented time.

On this week’s episode of Remote MU, we talk over Zoom with Daniel Serres, who is a senior majoring in political science and communication; and Toyin Jackson, a junior who is majoring in food science. Together, these students discuss the transition from in-person classes to remote learning and the innovative ways Tigers are staying connected to our Mizzou community.

Chancellor Cartwright talks with Dr. Karen Edison, who is professor emerita of dermatology and senior medical director of the Missouri Telehealth Network and Show-Me Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (Show-Me ECHO); and Kelli Buchanan, who is a master’s student in public health. Together, they discuss how our faculty, staff and students use MU innovations to create a healthier world.

Chancellor Cartwright talks with Danielle Oprean, an assistant professor in the College of Education’s School of Information Science & Learning Technologies; and Celina Castleman, a junior majoring in human development and family science with an emphasis in child development and education who is minoring in psychology. Celina is also a student-teacher in MU’s Child Development Laboratory. Together, they discuss how Tigers transform our understanding of what makes a successful classroom.

Chancellor Cartwright talks with two students in MU’s College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources: Emily Koch is a junior majoring in agricultural education who works at Tiger Garden, a floral shop run by the Division of Plant Sciences; and Grace Frisella is a junior majoring in food science and nutrition who works at Buck’s Ice Cream, an ice cream parlor run by the Food Science Program. They discuss the ways art, science, entrepreneurship and learning come together at Mizzou to give students the tools they need to excel.
