This week is all about bands playing other bands' songs. Summer songs that perhaps radio has exhausted. Whether they are playing it straight note-for-note or whether they are re-interpreting it, bands love to pay tribute to the hits they love! In this episode, we showcase a summer playlist made for all of your grilling, pool party, block party, yard work, camping, and hot weather needs!

This week InObscuria exhumes those unmarked graves of unsigned artists! These bands may not have been signed to a major or gained internationally distributed success, but they were all rock stars to those lucky enough to hear and see them! Anyone who’s ever been in a band and played local/regional shows knows that some of the best live acts and musicians (and friends) are met through sharing bills with other acts. We hope we turn you on to some great music that you may have otherwise never had a chance to hear!

This week, half of us are at the beach enjoying some r n’ r, so we thought we’d listen to some r n’ r with a beachy vibe. We are pulling the plug… and gasping for air… guitars! Rock artists have been playing acoustic since the very beginning. In fact, most songwriters start the process with an acoustic instrument. There’s something about capturing the sound of a song on just wire and wood that has a vulnerable, human feel to it. Dig your toes into the sand, breathe in the salt air, and enjoy these tunes with a frosty beverage.

This week, we bow down and raise up the almighty guitar heroes! The foundation of Rock n’ Punk n’ Metal is the guitar and the amazing sounds that those who wield them can make. How do they make such wonderful noise with metal wires on a piece of wood? There’s some kinda voodoo in their hands, and we set off on a journey to raise some of the 70s shredders that you may have forgotten!

Meet Captain Content & Kevin in the pit again this week for a hella good time! We’re getting our aggressions out by revisiting the starting point of it all for Kevin. The thrash, crossover, speed metal movement of the 80s spawned his love of all things rock n’ punk n’ metal. This time around the circle pit, we are focusing on Crossover Thrash. A sub-genre defined as short bursts of hardcore punk with metal guitar riffing. This was perfect skateboarding music, which intertwined with the Sk8 subculture in the 80s and 90s. Hope ya have a slammin’ good time with this one!

This week, we celebrate International Women’s Triple-V Day! Our 9th episode in a series dedicated to women who bring the fury with style and passion. Don’t dare call these “chick bands”; these are kick-ass rock n’ roll bands that happen to include powerful women in them!!! Piss off a man; you can fight it out and then go have a pint at the pub. Piss off a woman, and you will pay for it 10-fold. These are ladies that play loud and heavy with attitude and… balls?

This week the people demanded it, and we complied! Therefore, we give you “Grave Mistake: ZEBRA Shoulda Been Huge!!!”. This is our celebration of an amazing power trio from New Orleans / Long Island that has been largely forgotten in the pantheon of rock n’ roll. They also happen to be very musically proficient, with a bona fide guitar god in the band that rarely gets the praise he deserves!

A few weeks ago, Captain Content threw down a challenge to find great new music, and Kevin didn’t just step up—he delivered in spades. Typically, we recognize all of the amazing recorded output of the current year at the end of the year; however, there are just too many great releases this year to wait until December. We’re not even halfway through the year yet, and we already have all of these great tunes! Who was that said rock n’ roll was dead???

This week, we take you to church and exorcise some demons by testifying to the New Wave Of Classic Rock! Listen in as we cleanse your soul with classic, blues-influenced hard rock that reminds us of the days when FM radio rocked! Robert called the newer bands out on a recent episode, and indeed, rock n’ roll is not dead. It is in the very capable hands of these killer younger bands!

It is with heavy hearts that we deliver this week’s episode honoring the passing of another guitar hero giant whose riffs were mighty enough to support Lemmy: Phil Campbell. He was a guitarist who rarely got mentioned in the circles of recognized guitar greats, but his playing on 16 Motörhead albums provides all the badass-guitarist validation needed. Best known as Lemmy’s right-hand guy, he also released 3 fantastic albums with his 3 sons as Phil Campbell & The Bastard Sons. We pay tribute to this amazing Welsh guitarist and celebrate his entire discography! Rest in power, Phil!
