“I was inspired to write ‘La Gloria’ ten years ago, while living through the flu epidemic in Argentina. Like today, I was quarantined with my family in our apartment. The streets were empty, the cinemas abandoned. There was a run on surgical masks and alcohol gel. These things are familiar to most of us by now. But, in my story, I imagined something different. In “Dungeness Blues”, the wonderful Jeremy Reed pays homage to Derek Jarman (1942-1994), one of the most influential filmmakers, authors and artists of post-war Europe. Itchy Ear composed wonderful music to accompany Reed’s moving poems.
