Natural disasters, power failures, conference protection, internal security, averting military threats and peace support: the Swiss Armed Forces have the resources and capabilities to meet these challenges on behalf of the Swiss Confederation. As the security instrument of the Swiss Confederation, they have the tasks of defending the country, supporting the civilian authorities and promoting peace at an international level. In fulfilling these tasks, the Armed Forces perform a wide range of services to maintain security and freedom of Switzerland.
