Some people believe that when a person commits his or her life to Jesus Christ, accepting Him as personal Savior, then eternal salvation is totally assured from that moment on, with absolutely no possibility of ever losing it. When I gave my life to Jesus Christ, I had a deep desire to get baptized. So I approached a pastor I knew to see if he would do me the honor of baptizing me. He told me that I was required to become a member of a church in order to be baptized. I immediately wondered what made this pastor think he could give himself authority over God to withhold salvation from a true believer? Today I examine the issue of attaching baptism to church memberships and whether this is truly biblical.

The most dangerous doctrine taught by many churches is that of 'Easy Believism'. It insists that embracing Jesus as lord need not disrupt our lives, does not demand we endure, and imposes no cost. While this teaching enjoys immense appeal and an impressive following among christians, it has no foundation in scripture.
