After Joan and I reminisce about junior high, Joan speaks about  moving from our hometown of York PA to Indiana in the fall of ninth grade, some health issues, and a family story with which she has come to terms. Turns out, her family history is more exotic than what she realized when she was in junior high.  She also mentions a "yearbook" that one of our classmates purchased for her  in ninth grade to give to her on a trip she made back to York the summer after ninth grade. This classmate had Joan's friends, including me, "sign" the yearbook. What a wonderful conversation. Thanks Joan.

In this episode, while I still try to find my hosting voice, my  life-long friend Karen talks abut gig work before the gig era, honors the elderly women she worked with her who taught her about what's important in life from taking care of your feet to investing in relationships, challenges us to overcome the taboos surrounding grief and death and encourages us to be intentional about this area of our lives, and looks ahead to both endings and beginnings.

In this first episode, I invited my friend Suzanne to spend time with me. Suzanne retired in 2021, and we talk about her experiences with the process of retirement.  Suzanne poses the question, "What is my authentic experience of rtirement?," to herself on a regular basis.  I have no groovy music to introduce my podcast and my guest. The official interview begins at round 5:45. See the next paragraph about the zencastr technology. At the beginning and at the end of this episode, Suzanne and I do talk about the zencastr technology/software. She is an advanced user, and  since this is her first experience with zencastr, I wanted her thoughts about how user friendly zencastr is for guests. For the most part, we discovered that entering the site/the green room is easy, but we did have a few glitches.  Zencastr emphasizes using Chrome, which we were both using. I could hear Suzanne, but she could not hear me. After rmuch troubleshooting, Suzanne changed her browser to edge and finally we could talk. Also, zencastr emphasizes using microphones.  I used one; Suzanne did not. She used the built in mic of the computer. She sounds a lot better than I do.  Once we stop recording, menus are supposed to pop up confirming tht the recording did complete. Neither one of us received those pop ups.
