Talking Thriving After and Destigmatising Cancer with Esther Xu
Esther is a gastric lymphoma survivor (or 'thriver' as she likes to be called), who has been cancer free for over three years. She is using her experiences to create video interviews with other thrivers to share cancer stories. Esther also plans on performing public speaking to Chinese and Chinese Australian communities to destigmatise the concept of cancer, which is still considered taboo in that country. We talk about the triggers which made her go to the specialist for a check up, her diagnosis and treatment, the stigma around cancer in China, and how she has made the most of her 'second life' after her treatment and successful remission (or 'reason for mission', also what she prefers to say). It was a pleasure talking to a fellow thriver like her. --- Want to say hello? Get in touch!
