Greek Mythology's Titanic Beginnings: Theogony, Part 1
This week, the podcast gets a new format. Every other week will be a story from mythology, while the weeks in between will be Patron-only episodes where I break down the history and context of the myths. The myth this week is the most-complete version of the ancient Greek myth of the creation of the world, as told in Hesiod's Theogony. Since the episode threatened to be quite long, I have broken it into two parts, with this first part recounting the birth of the world and the first generations of gods, Hesiod going on a long tangent about Hekate, and finally the birth of Zeus. Along the way, we get a look at the sheer amount of assaults that happen in Greek myth. If you would like to hear next week's episode on Hesiod himself and his place in the tradition of Greek myth, consider joining the Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/incaseyoumythedit
