good! podcast!
As a semi-recent college grad with degrees in English and Theatre working a mind numbingly boring office job that (THANK GOD) lets me use earbuds, this podcast has been a lifesaver for me. It’s funny, it’s informative, it makes sitting at a desk for 40 hours a week more bearable, and it staves off the ever-present ghoul in the back of my mind telling me to get a master’s in English in This Economy.

They want you to be in bed
Remember the dumb game where you append “in bed” to a cookie fortune? It’s not making the right better, but it is making me feel better to listen to the takedowns.

Amazing show, been listening for years but my podcast app doesn’t do reviews! Thanks to these two, I no longer explain anything; I only gloss things for others now. Also: Dianne Wiest rhymes with East

Came for the tradwives, stayed for Wagner (and 1933)
I should be careful about writing "I was in bed with the right last night,” but here we are. Moira and Adrian are a balm to my psyche in Trump’s America. I enjoy their take on gender and fascism. I take comfort in listening to their podcast because I can’t stomach the news anymore. Somehow I come away from episodes both more informed and more alarmed. Highlights of my listening experience: • I now know more about Richard Wagner than any non-opera person should. • After the tradwife episode, I looked at my kitchen and felt both judged and relieved that I do not own a butter churn. • I learned about Otto Weininger, a man I'd never heard of and now cannot forget. Thanks, I guess. • Adrian's audible discomfort in real time is a better experience than most prestige TV. • I know what Looksmaxxing is and still have nightmares about it. Warning: side effects include anger-cleaning, explaining pro-natalism to your spouse at dinner, and reflexively saying "well, actually, there's a 19th-century precedent for that." Five stars. Will get in bed with the right again (podcast only).

The Best Podcast
There was a time in dim mists of a couple years ago that it was possible to go a day or two without being reminded about how the world genders EVERYTHING. Sadly that world ended in November 2024. Adrian and Moira are the best guides to the world we live in, where the entire Presidential Administration expresses its foreign policy, energy policy, and even administration of national parks exclusively in hierarchical gendered terms. This is the place to learn about Wagner’s operas, slasher films, and how the Trump administration inflicts gender on national parks and mining leases. I never miss an episode.

Love the pod!
The only podcast with a Kevin Bacon score of 4 In Bed with the Right had Matt Bernstein as a guest -> Matt Bernstein had Naomi Klein as a guest (A Bit Fruity, The Tucker Carlson Problem) -> Naomi Klein was a guest on Piers Morgan’s podcast (10/3/26) -> Piers Morgan had Kevin Bacon as a guest on his CNN show 6/10/2011

Absolutely love Adrian and Moira!
I’ve learned so much listening to them and find their intellectual and critical framework engaging and accessible. I hope they keep up the amazing gender analysis for years to come.

Funny and Profound!
The best hosts. The Brazil election conversation was one of my favorites and the SF episode. Thanks Adrian and Moira!

It’s
a lot (complimentary). I binged the 3-year back catalog in about 3 months. I love spending time with Moira and Adrian in my ears. The show helps me understand my world and even my family better, and it makes me want to engage with society and cultural, which feels necessary especially right now. My favorites are the Wagner episodes, which facilitate me making more informed jokes with my wife about her German family. At this very moment I am shocked to learn about the recent history of Santa Cruz (a place that my parents thought of as a romantic getaway in the late 1980s) as a murder capital??? Makes a lot of sense, if you’re trying to get away from Merced for a day I guess. Anyway, I’m on the verge of becoming an opera pervert. Thank you so much!

Can’t Get Enough
Thank you, Moira and Adrian, for your beautiful chemistry and camaraderie, your brilliant analyses of our society, and for helping me to develop a conceptual framework to be a better parent and person in our world. Thank you for your important work and for the hope and no small amount of joy your conversations give me. On a recent day of travel, you had me in stitches with your tech creep episodes. Loved the Brontë episodes…god, more book discussions always welcome! Found you through your Andrew Sullivan series—so fracking good! I appreciate the reading lists/recommendations, too. Y’all are awesome, and I feel like you’re helping to stave off what has sometimes felt like an inexorable middle aged slide towards something closed off and afraid. Thank you both so much. 💕

I binged ~25 of these over ~2wks. I’m a prof and I’ll agree with other reviews that it feels like being in grad school again - good chewy stuff. (But like, the really annoying kid isn’t in the seminar.) I especially love hearing about early 20c stuff, which I never studied. I cannot believe so many people reviewing a podcast on gender feel comfortable commenting on people’s voices and laughs.

Interesting and funny
I find myself chuckling audibly fairly often. Both hosts are great. The real reason I’m leaving this review though is to beg you to work on the verbal tic of saying “right” as a conjunction and to end sentences. ❤️🌈

great pod except for the comments on people's looks
overall a thought-provoking podcast with many sharp insights! the one thing that gives me pause is the frequent jabs at people's appearances - i know that they're often talking about horrible people, but just on principle it leaves a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. i'm sure plenty of good people also have and can't help the same features they make digs at, and it just seems unnecessary to make that the target of cruelty when there is plenty of legiminate material for moral complaint.

It’s like the grad seminar you wish you had
Moira and Adrian offer the sharpest gender analysis around. Witty and incisive, and i learn something every time.

Really enjoyable
The nerdier, the better—I really loved the natural law episode and the Wagner episodes! Project 1933 was a highlight last year as well. I really wish the bonus episodes were available on Apple Podcasts and not just through Patreon though. Why not make them available via subscription here too?

My favorite podcast
I am an academic working on gender and I learn so much from Moira and Adrian. I hate that so many of these reviews, even the positive ones, contain pretty rank misogyny directed at Moira. For my money, Moira is the most interesting feminist thinker today, and I greatly enjoy both her and Adrian. Easy patreon subscription for me!

Funny and informative!
I always learn something and am left with a better analysis of gender, history, and politics. Also Moira has the best laugh in podcasting.

New to me
I really enjoy that I have to look up two to three words each time I listen to Adrian. His vocabulary is astounding. He reminds me of my favorite college professor, a man who spoke at least a dozen languages and emanated pure joy. I appreciate the insights and information!

Not for me anymore
Update 2: Moira is becoming increasingly hyperbolic and declarative in the same fashion she critiques and it is exhausting. You can 100% get your point across and be right without exaggerating and overgeneralizing almost every point you make. Update: I think Moira lost me with this Guy Fieri bonus episode. Look, you’ll never get an argument out of me - MAGA is despicable, conservatives have no backbone and I am 100% team liberals. But by golly this episode proved why liberals are so darn annoying lol. Like Guy Fieri openly opposes the Tate Brothers and Moira immediately dismisses it and is pretty much calling him a liar. Thanks goodness for Adrian, who actually tries to be good faith about this stuff, for saying hey let’s take him at his word here. There is no excuse to be MAGA or part of the manosphere but it seems like liberals like Moira, almost want to dare ppl to join the MAGA cause. Sheesh. Leave Guy alone!! This is a really enjoyable podcast. For the most part it avoids being overly snarky and maintains a level of thoughtfulness I truly appreciate. However, I find at times a lack of specificity in some of the episodes that can be frustrating. For example, the Tech Vibe Shifts episode about AI was literally the generalized, vague convo I’ve heard from them. The kept saying things like “These companies..,” “These people..,” “These billboards” “Conservatives this or that” without any real info on who “the companies, conservatives, people” were. I may agree with your sentiment but you actually need to name what you are referencing in specifics or you fall into conservative territory where you make claims with no backing. Also…people who go out of their way to hate on Hamilton are so exhausting (I’m looking at you Moira)

How Can Something So Educational Also Be So Entertaining?
I don’t know how they do it, but I come away from each episode smarter than I was before and cackling along with the hosts (no easy feat as I usually find laughing hosts annoying with rare exception but this is a rare exception). Nothing is too big or too small to be probed and dissected in a fascinating way and their guests are top tier as well. This isn’t just the podcast we need right now, it’s an excellent resource that also happens to be highly entertaining; what a gem!

Thank you for providing the information I needed to adjust my hate of Phyllis Schlafly to the correct amount. I didn’t hate her nearly enough.

Excellent stuff
Consistently funny, smart, & thoughtful discussions. Also a great crash course in gender studies/theory
Apocalypse … Eventually
I’ve been going to the library like crazy from this podcast.
It does feel like I snuck into gender studies without paying (as it should be) and each new episode references written work that gets me excited and interested in trying to read more of the feminist writers that helped pave the way we think about gender today. My delight when I checked out “right wing women” to find that Moira wrote the introduction on the version carried in my library was such a cherry on top! (My only sadness is I do have a big crush on Moira’s laugh ) Thank you for all you do.

Hiroo Onada for Woke 1.0
Pretty crazy how out of touch this is. I’m a left leaning person but this gets hits all the worst parts of Woke 1.0: the dripping condescension, the belief that any criticism of liberal immigration policy or MeToo during the Biden years was inorganic and astroturfed, the refusal to consider that any of the excesses of Woke 1.0 existed at all, etc. etc. Truly remarkable work.

Truly ridiculous
These two snobs are so nasty and exaggerate so terrifically it really is unlistenable. I tried a couple of times to listen and then I did the most amazing thing - I turned them off!

The Best
I’ve snuck into a graduate level gender studies seminar at Stanford and I’m not paying tuition. These 2 academics are so brilliant and my only critique is that Apple Podcasts didn’t let me find them earlier.

An essential part of my routine
Thoughtful, witty, and just the right amount of snark. I was introduced to this show after the hosts were guests on another favorite podcast of mine. I’m happy to now include them in my listening regimen and I’ve recommended the show to several of my friends.

I like a lot of your analysis, but I’m struggling to keep listening.
I was honestly pretty disappointed in the birth control misinformation episode, and my disappointment was tied to something that runs through many of your episodes - the total lack of acknowledgement of trans and non-binary people. I know that your goal is to examine right wing gender narratives, which often also refuse to acknowledge their existence, but I think you do your audience a disservice by reinforcing that same strict gender binary.

Great analysis!
Thank you for your episode about birth control misinformation, which has helped me navigate the confusing messages that have emerged online. I just started listening to this show and I’m finding your analysis of current events super insightful. I love the humor as well. Keep it up!

I really appreciate the discussions
I am one of those sad sacks who did a lot of education but didn’t end up in an academic position. I work in a drab office doing drab work. This podcast keeps me connected to the sort of “life of the mind” that I spent most of life pursuing. I really enjoy the discussions and perspectives even when I strongly disagree with some of the takes. I especially feel comforted by Moira’s non-apologetic embrace of some of the old foremothers of radical feminism. All is not lost!

so fantastic and necessary
i’m an american studies student and i situate my work in feminist theory so this podcast is inevitably up my alley lol. so appreciative of how this podcast integrates really diligent analysis of texts and relevant theories with accessible commentary. it’s a rare podcast where i feel like the hosts have done their homework and they make me want to do mine too. thanks for your work! especially the silicon valley stuff

Okay
I am so curious to hear this but, In case you’re interested in any critiquing, I can’t pay attention to what is being said bc, you know when ppl have habits of inserting “like” or “ya know” or “right?” In between every phrase? You guys say “right?” Way too many times and she says it with a nasal sound which makes it sound so condescending. It blocks my ability to pay attention. I wish it didn’t and it’s probably my thing only. But I notice it too much.

The Chills
This has never happened before today, but I was so excited for a new episode that I got the chills as soon as the theme music started. This entire team is the best. Thank you for your insights, efforts, jokes and judgements. We love you!

Amazing show, but birth episode missed the mark
You are usually so rigorous, thoughtful, and accountable to primary sources and lived experience. But in the birth episode, you did what you’re usually so good at catching in others: collapsing real people into stereotypes and then judging them. People who choose home or unmedicated births represent a wide spectrum of beliefs, experiences, and demographics. Many of us are not driven by ideology, anti-science sentiment, or a belief that women should suffer. In fact, medical evidence from integrated maternal care systems (NOT America! A subject you could probably find rich to explore, hehe) supports midwifery-led and out-of-hospital care for low-risk pregnancies. Yet we’re routinely framed as naïve, irresponsible, or disempowered. My own midwives were well-educated, licensed medical professionals with hospital experience who built their practice after witnessing medical misogyny firsthand. One had spent years providing maternal care on an Indian reservation. These choices don’t come from ignorance — they come from experience and expertise. The episode spent a lot of energy on the “free birth” movement, which is marginal and internally contested. Its real-world impact is tiny, and in the sad case you mentioned where the baby died, the leader experienced awful consequences. That feels like going after the wrong target — especially when the episode surfaced something far more revealing and troubling. Adrian’s observation about his surrogate’s experience was the most incisive moment: she received prenatal care, gave birth, and was then effectively abandoned. “Here’s your baby, goodbye.” When he asked, what about her? the answer was essentially, she can come back…whenever. That post-birth disappearance — the casual erasure of women once the baby arrives — is real, systemic misogyny. That’s the birth story In Bed With the Right should be interrogating. I welcome you to talk to women with different birth experiences before joining the chorus that stereotypes and dismisses us — especially given your work pushes back against exactly that kind of flattening elsewhere.

Amazing content
This is a truly fantastic podcast. Adrian and Moira are such a good pair, and the queer theory lens through which they analyze morally perverted monsters is incredibly insightful. It feels like a university course with the very best professors I can imagine. A much-needed addition to the Left’s intellectual critique of the far right.

So happy I found this podcast
Really happy to have found this pod thru the Project 1933 series. It’s quickly become a weekly listen outside of that series as well. Obviously heavy and complex subject matter, but the hosts are so knowledgeable, human and charismatic that it’s digestible and somehow … hopeful, in the sense that there are smart, like minded people bearing witness with me.
