Ernest Uwazie is the founder of Afripeace Foundation. They are a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Africa-US relations through peace education and cross-cultural exchanges, as well as youth leadership and community development.
He holds a Ph.D. in Justice Studies from Arizona State University and is a Professor and Chair of Criminal Justice at CSU Sacramento. He is a renowned ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution)/mediation trainer, practitioner, scholar and system designer. Uwazie has many publications and conference presentations on peace and conflict resolution, peace education, restorative justice and alternative dispute resolution.
He is also a recipient of numerous prestigious awards for his community service and scholarships, and he belongs to or participated in many professional and African community development/cultural organizations.

Mathews has served as Deputy District Attorney in Sacramento for eight years and is the first person in her family to earn a college degree. The Sacramento Bee has named her in their Top 25 Black Change Makers for the Sacramento region. If elected, she would be the first Black woman in Sacramento County to hold the District Attorney position.
