I thoroughly enjoyed catching up with my old conference buddy Michael Van Order, who has some very interesting things to say about his career path post-PhD. Before I knew it, we had been talking for over an hour, but his advice and experiences are definitely worth listening to. We touched on everything from the benefits of trying different jobs out to the challenges of changing schools and groups along the PhD path. Michael gives excellent advice to not let the fear of running a failed experiment keep you from trying! He highlights that a failed experiment does not mean a failed researcher and separating the two is definitely important when getting through those tough emotional times in the lab. Enjoy!
