Imago theory is an unconscious, idealized concept of familiar love that an individual develops during childhood which remains unchanged in adulthood. It is amazing how unconsciously we sometimes record inaccurate accounts from childhood and they remain with us as adults and impacts all other relationships including our spiritual relationships. If we closely examine what attracted us to Jesus' ministry it may reveal something about how we feel about relationships. Were you drawn to Jesus because of the miracles or the wounds. Regardless of why you were drawn to him be sure you are prepare to forgive those who may have wounded you in order to be able to fully see Christ.Support the show

The reveal of who Christ is has been for most of us a process. Sometimes we’ve recognized it and sometimes we didn’t because our revelation has occurred in stages. For some, it may have been one big Aha moment, or a Damascus Road experience because it was the only way God could get your attention. For others, it has been this slow removal of a veil from over your eyes and from over your faces. Little by little the image in the mirror has become clearer and as you've been able to see him you've been able to change your image. You've been able to change your image. We are being called now to reveal the image of Christ to the world, understanding that who you are and where you are in your reflection of Christ may not be perfect but there is a characteristic of Christ where you are the spitting image of your father because he has revealed himself to you in that way. He has tested and tried you and you have a testimony about Him, yet because you don’t look like him in all areas, you hide your light. 1 John 3:2 “for we shall see Him as He is” I want us to consider that when it was necessary for Jesus to minister to one of his disciples he was not ashamed to show him his wounds in order to win his soul.Support the show

John 10:27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. Reveal means “to open up to view” but it’s not that God was not there all the time, it’s just we often weren’t paying attention or we were too distracted to notice. What made Peter and Andrew leave their fishing business to go follow Jesus. In this episode we discuss what it means for Christ to be revealed to us.Support the show

"What we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears.” It is this knowing that builds our confidence about what we don’t know. 1st John 3:2 helps us to grapple with and lets us know that it is ok that we are unsure. We have reason to be unsure since we are joining a new family and are taking off an old role we've been playing for quite some time. We are walking in a new role. No longer walking in the flesh but being led by the Spirit of Christ. Imago is us living the transformed, fully formed idealized image of Christ through the Spirit not the flesh. While you may be unsure of what you will be, you should be sure of these things: you are a child of God if you accept Jesus Christ as your Savior, you live according to the Spirit not the Flesh you will do greater works according to the Spirit.Support the show

While 1 John 3:2 tells us that we are children of God, it is a right that requires some action by us, an activation of receiving and believing. It has not yet been revealed what we shall be and right now there is nothing about me that resembles God’s character, his holiness, his thinking, his wisdom, his love. Support the show
