Zero waste is a comprehensive and holistic approach to waste reduction that strives to minimize the amount of materials sent to landfills or incinerators by prioritizing waste prevention, reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting. Russ O'Rourke, the Environmental Health and Safety Director for Barilla America in Ames, IA, and a Board Member with the Iowa Sustainable Business Forum, is joining us today to discuss the ISBF's work in connecting Iowa businesses to improve their sustainable practices and Barilla's pursuit of zero waste. The ISBF is a member-driven industry association established in 2014 that promotes continuous improvement in business practices that benefit people, the planet, and profits.
