The Industrial Revolution changed the world by transforming business, economics and society. It began in Great Britain in the middle of the 18th century. During this period the European population grew substantially and to increase the production of primary goods, machines became widely used in factories. During the Industrial Revolution, there was no legislation about work. Due to the factory system, workers had to face poor working conditions, had low salaries, worked for many hours a day and lived in inadequate sanitary conditions. Often even women and children were exploited. Children were ideal for factory work: employers didn’t have to pay them high wages being too young to complain. They were also uneducated because schools were a privilege and only wealthy families could afford to have their children homeschooled.
