An Illinois must.
Grateful for this candid peak behind the curtain. I learn, am entertained, and walk away understanding more about the way I am impacted and can impact local issues.

Splendiferous
The duo with Glenance and Daniel is driving IL Informed home as one of my favorite podcasts of all time. The dance of perspective around their shared heart for social justice delivers something...revelatory. A spring rain, a starry night, goat cheese and cherries ice cream from Jeni's, and a lake-side sunrise over a pleasant morning run. All wrapped into each episode. Well done!! I could have said "relaxing, refreshing, eye-opening, delicious, and hopeful," but that misses the point--the show is somehow personal. I love it.

Great podcast!
I've been looking for a way to learn more about the state govenment - makes no sense that the closer politics gets to our daily lives the less information seems to be out there. Dan and Glenance are doing an amazing job filling in the gaps. Love Dan's real-world examples! Also love the longer episodes, a deeper dive is appreciated since most of these topics are rarely reported on.

Detailed, but slanted - just be aware.
However, I hope this podcast is able to do something our state needs badly— create engagement. Illinois politics is complex, but what happens on a state level will impact your daily life much more than what happens in D.C., so it is incredibly important that you learn about it from many diverse voices who’ve been there, form your own conclusions, and take some action on a bill that matters to you. And when that bill fails, you must find another. And another. And another. Don’t leave the voting booth and walk away from politics for two years or four. Leave the voting booth and call your legislators. Make sure they work for YOU. Keep caring about Illinois. She needs you.

Love it!
This is a great, progressive complement to the NPR State Week podcast, which covers the current weekly ups and downs in Springfield. It gives a great survey of how the overall system works; despite being interested in state politics for years I have still learned things I didn’t know. I love Glenance, and I voted for Daniel, but they also play really well off of one another and are obviously having fun doing it. Five stars for sure! I want to hear them talk about so many more things.

Love it
Contrary to some other reviews, I find both Glenance and Daniel to be intelligent, easy to understand, and candid. We need more episodes! Also, someone please tell Daniel to run for governor again. He has my vote (again)

The young girl cohost ruins it
I get that she is supposed to represent a non-expert curious mind and offer layman questions and summarization but too often she only adds smug affirmations or just bad jokes that break the momentum of what Bliss is talking about. This cohost role could actually add to the show but with proper tact. Please find someone new.

Civics Ed at its best
This podcast was more educational and informative than much of the formal education I’ve received about politics and government. Excellent work, keep them coming. The only suggestion would be to center the “voter”, “the people”, or “America”... there is a tendency to assume who the voter is and what they stand for by a simple label, ie Democrat, Republican, and Independent. When discussing an issue it may be helpful to understand and contextualize the voting block around that issue, to as much as possible, perhaps with previous polling or survey data. I any case, great work and look forward to hearing more.

Fantastic
It’s refreshing to hear an honest discussion about politics in Illinois. Green and Biss play off of each other so well. It is the podcast we need, but not the one we deserve.

Ranked Choice Voting
I love this podcast! Is it possible to discuss SB0780 - which Daniel filed in early 2017 - the roadblocks, viability in IL and alternatives to implementing RCV in IL in lieu of this bill? I live in Chicago and there are runoffs in both the mayoral race as well as the aldermanic race in my ward. RCV would have saved much time, money and an overwhelming flood of hate/attack ads of all kinds. Thanks!

Gimme da Biss-ness and some Green
This podcast makes me smarter. Now that I’m learning that state politics are kinda important this is perfect way to learn the ins and outs, the history, and how to fix what’s broken. Eleven thumbs up.

Explains the ins and outs of Springfield
So far I am eagerly awaiting new episodes. I love the candid behind the scenes look at how things work in Springfield in an easily understandable way. It makes Springfield more accessible to everyone since it takes the mystery out and will encourage more people to pay attention and get involved. Great resource for the classroom.

Overall could be better
The first two episodes haven’t really said anything that anyone with a basic understanding of how politics works wouldn’t already know. Biss’ inside knowledge saves the show. The major downside to this podcast, and why it would otherwise have 4 stars from me, is Biss’ cohost Glennace Green. The whole time she is either mocking Daniel (which was cute at first but is now so annoying and really juvenile) or laughing hysterically in a distracting way, that makes the podcast intolerable for me.

The sausage
Ever wondered how the sausage was made? Here is the detailed recipe! Daniel Biss does a brilliant job illuminating the behind-the-doors strategies and happenstance in our state government that gives us our laws. The lighthearted conversational style between Daniel and his co-host, Glenance Green, make this serious subject a lot of fun to listen to. Can’t wait for more episodes.

Already a Big Fan
Love the hosts, and they explain IL politics very well. I was hoping that this podcast would exist, and I’m glad it finally does!

Really interesting, informative & funny
Daniel Biss is a natural at podcasting. Who knew? Does a great job explaining the political road to the $15 minimum wage in Illinois. Plus he is funny. Co-host Glenance Green is great, too. I hadn’t heard of her previously, but she is terrific. Will look forward to future releases.

Illinoisians NEED this podcast
Why another podcast? Illinois citizens sorely need information about our government. Is JB gonna improve things, or is he just another rich "outsider"? There aren't many other reliable sources, and sadly the state's newspapers have fallen on tough times. Biss served in the IL House and Senate, where he stood for being honest and forthright with his constituents. In the premier episode, he shares valuable history about how IL finally passed a $15 minimum wage, after years of prevaricating by BOTH parties. Interesting insights on how speaker Madigan, not necessarily an arch villain, thinks. Also a helpful interlude from a DePaul prof on the reasoning behind the first (Federal) minimum wage bill in 1938. I could personally have done without the small amount of cool (?) silliness, but if that makes younger listeners comfortable, I'll put up with it. If it stays this valuable, I won't miss a single episode.

Thank you!
This is so helpful! The opportunity to hear about what is happening, how it happens, and what is important is so beneficial. As a team, you have a wonderful on air chemistry and it is a joy to listen and be informed at the same time as engaged and entertained! -Becky Froman Freiman (Michael’s daughter from TBI in Skokie)

Thank you, Daniel!
Daniel Biss is a beacon of hope in Illinois politics. Thanks for everything you’ve done and continue to do for our state. You had my vote in 2018, and you’ll have it next time, whenever that may be.

Former Senator Biss talks truth to power
I’m hoping that this show will touch on topics that have little to no explanations that the average Illinoisan can understand. I hope that having the perspective a former senator who very recently left office will provide better, and more broken down explanations of tricky subjects.

Funny, smart, full of facts, history and interpretation
I've been waiting for a podcast to discuss IL politics just like this one. It's funny, smart, full of facts and history but also includes some interpretation from people in the know. I am so looking forward to continuing to broaden my political education with the help of Daniel and Glenance at IL Informed. (Also, what a great name!)
