We are seeing a surge in demand in Amoxicillin for children. So much so that now Amoxicillin for children is also in shortage. The question is why is it on shortage considering that the Flu, RSV and Covid are all viral infections and Amoxicillin is typically used to manage bacterial infection and not viral?  I discuss this on the surface contradiction as well as how to manage the shortage of amoxicillin if you have any little ones who do get sick and need treatment with it.

A good foundation to a healthy immune system is going to be fueled by what you put you into it.  Green leafy vegetables, fruits and regular hydration will go a long way to keep yourself healthy.  In this weeks episode I discuss foods and supplements such as Vitamin D and even honey that can give you a healthier immune system overall!

For this weeks episode I look at tips on what you can do to keep your kids safe at school during the recent spike in absenteeism due to a rise is respiratory diseases.  We review what you can do from keeping up on hand washing to healthy eating and Hydration.

RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) is a virus that leads to respiratory infections every fall but this year there has been a surge. While not entirely sure as to why RSV infections are on the rise it is believed that it is occurring due to the broad lifting of restrictions. But furthermore there have been kids born during the pandemic who have not had exposure to common viruses that they would normally be exposed to due to the restrictions that were in place. We were one of those parents and when Atlas caught it we were super worried for him. He was very mucousy with labored breathing and he had episodes of high fevers. Overall we were able to reduce his symptoms using some of the techniques I discuss in teh video and I also share tips on prevention as well.  

In this episode we discuss how we deal with baby but rashes and what products we like to use to help minimize their irritation.  Also we look at our experiences in choosing the right daycare and how we dealt with our little ones  getting their first immunizations.  This is a great episode as all the little kiddies make their debut on the podcast right along with their dads!   We provide a pharmacy twist on being new dads :)
