I Wish I Never Said That

Colby Evans
A show hosted by Colby Evans about the continuous battle that rages within ourselves to become the person we most want to be, spoken from an uncomfortably honest perspective.
I've Been Sober For 8 Months, Here's What I've Learned So Far
You're listening to I Wish I Never Said That and today I answer the 6 most common questions I get asked about going sober. 8 months ago I set out on a goal that I was impossible. Honestly, I didn't think that I'd make it this far but here I am today. I was at a low point in my life, my rock bottom (I did an episode on this way back towards the beginning of my episodes). My depression and anxiety were at all-time highs and my motivation was at an all-time low. For me, it came down to one simple choice: stop drinking and doing drugs or continue down this path forever.  When I tell you this was the hardest thing I've ever done, I mean it. I set out with a goal of stopping for one full year. This meant that I would have to make some serious changes in my life and have some difficult conversations with myself. It meant I'd have to learn to say no, change the way I spend my time, and look inward to heal my trauma. But 8 months into this life-changing experiment and my life is more fulfilled than I could have imagined.  If you're thinking about starting your own sober journey, I encourage you to do it. It can be the start of something great like it has been for me. Feel free to reach out to me with your own questions, stories, or experience and please share so we can inspire as many people as possible. Follow Colby Evans on Instagram

From Near Death Experience To Top Of The Billboard Charts, How Kid Bouji Found Success Through Faith, Perseverance, and Vulnerability
I'm beyond excited to welcome to I Wish I Never Said That for his first ever podcast show Kid Bouji. He is a Super Producer and Recording Artist from the UK having written & produced a global number #1 hit for Natasha Bedingfield. He is well known and well connected in the  industry and joins us today to share his story.  As you know, May is Mental Health Awareness Month and Kid Bouji has dealt with his own experiences relating to mental health and how that has shaped who is he today. Before there was success, there was turmoil. Kid Bouji earned the nickname "the Miracle Child" from his parents after he survived a 3-month-to-live diagnosis from his doctor at birth. As he grew up, school was challenging, and he never found the support he needed. But he did find a passion for music which would be a theme throughout his life. The turmoil continued even as an older man as he had to put his life on hold to take care of his mother who was dying from cancer. After two and a half years she passed and just months later he was in a near fatal motorcycle accident that left him nearly paralyzed and recovering for years, both physically and mentally. However, Kid Bouji credits a lot of the challenges and rejection he faced in life and early in the music industry as motivators from him to keep pressing on. For a man who nearly died, his new perspective on life, love, friends, and happiness has become a pillar of his identity.  Thanks so much for listening and I hope you enjoyed the episode with Kid Bouji. Check out his page and see what he's working in the links below. If you liked this episode share it with a friend and make sure you hit that follow button for more great episodes to come. And throw your girl a 5-star rating while you're at it.  Kid Bouji | Instagram Colby Evans | Linktree

Vulnerability Is Never A Weakness
Hey all, welcome back for another episode of I Wish I Never Said That. May is Mental Health Awareness month and today I wanted to take some time to talk about a topic that very much affects our mental health and that is vulnerability. Too often we see our vulnerabilities as weaknesses and instead of facing them head on to change the narrative about them, we live with them and let them exert their influence over us. We're told we are not good at something or not capable of doing something and we let that become our identity. This happened to me and for the longest time I always thought I wasn't a good writer. When I talked to people about writing I was quick to point out that my writing wasn't the best. But in dealing with this vulnerability, I changed my way of thinking about it. I told myself I was a good writer and then I started to practice it so I became better at it. Since then I've learned you need to love your vulnerabilities and that expressing them will give you power and light. It will go a long way into valuing yourself and your mental health. If you want the opportunity to share your story with me and even possibly join the show, head to my Instagram channel, check out my content and drop me a message.  https://www.instagram.com/iwishineversaidthat/ Colby Evans | Linktree

Mental Health Awareness Month
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time where the focus is on raising awareness, providing support, educating the public, and advocating for change for the millions of people who suffer from mental illness and mental health disorders. So much great work has been done already to change the stigma around mental health and bring the conversation to the national spotlight. As you know, I started this podcast and my business, Mental Health Capsule, because I'm passionate about being a voice in this amazing community and having the tough conversations that many may not want to have. Talking about our vulnerabilities and sharing our experiences help others grow and learn. We want to show that it's okay to speak out, to say that something is not right, and most of all, to ask for help.  I'm opening the mic to every single one of you who wants to share your story or journey around mental health. Visit my Instagram page and drop a comment or send me a message and I'll get back to you about how to get in touch.  Thank you for all the support you've shown and I couldn't be more excited about what the future has in store. 📱✉️👉👉👉👉 https://www.instagram.com/iwishineversaidthat/

The Toolkit To Mastering Anxiety With Brenda Sanders A Neurosomatic Anxiety Coach
Welcome to I Wish I Never Said That, Brenda Sanders. Brenda is a neurosomatic anxiety coach who experienced suffering from anxiety for over 30 years but has found a way to create a life without it. She has studied the leading science-based tools and anxiety management techniques to learn how to regain control of her life and teach others the same. Brenda now has her own coaching practice where she teaches women her Mood BOOST Meditation and ways that they can overcome their anxiety. I learned so much from Brenda and am so thankful for coming on the show. As someone who experiences anxiety, it was so beneficial to hear there are things I can start implementing into my life to reduce and remove anxiety and contribute to a healthier life. One thing I’ll definitely be practicing more of is gratitude. And I thought it was fascinating when she talked about how it is impossible for the brain to focus on gratitude and anxiety at the same time, so choose gratitude. That will be my challenge for all of you, even if you’re not dealing with anxiety, show some more gratitude. Grab Brenda’s most popular resource! Eric Daddario Youth Public Speaker On How Addiction Took His Brother’s Life And How He Is Changing The Narrative, One School At A Time
I’m excited to have Eric Daddario join I Wish I Never Said That today. Eric helps student-athletes and students see how making better life decisions now will lead to a more fulfilling life. As a motivational speaker, he engages with young people to show them how they can immediately change the course of their own lives and the lives of others. He was led to this passion in life after witnessing his younger brother make poor decisions that ultimately led to him dying of a drug overdose. Eric’s powerful presentations and real-life stories encourage people turning their lives around through positive choices. This eye-opening, inspiring, and honest conversation about mental health, substance abuse, and the challenges facing the youth is one where everyone can learn something. For teenagers or people struggling with issues its important to know that you need to speak up and seek help. Carrying the burden of your issues is destructive and we too often see the consequences it leads to. It also challenges parents, friends, and family to be open to listening and supportive to those people struggling. As Eric says “kids are one trusted adult away from getting the help they need.” I encourage everyone out there to be present and aware to the people in your life. You never know what the people closest to you are going through. But be the person they can come in their time of need. Love one another, respect each other, and be the support in helping them making decisions to lead a better and healthier life. The Path To Happiness Starts With You
Today, I’m taking a deep dive into understanding happiness and how you can learn to be happy by just being yourself. Too often we think that happiness comes from other people and material things. We think we’re happy when we’re going out with friends on the weekend, or when we get a new phone or car, or when our Instagram post blows up and we get a lot of likes. But I’m here to tell you that’s not real happiness because the minute the high wears off or you wake up the next morning hung over that happiness is gone.  If you want to achieve true happiness, you have to look within and you have to be okay with yourself. It’s called doing the work and healing your traumas. When you’re able to be with just you, your thoughts, and your feelings and feel a sense of peace, that’s happiness. When you’re able to not worry about what your friends, your coworkers, or what anyone else is doing, that’s happiness. Realize that life is not a competition with others, it’s about achieving your best self and that your happiness stems from you. I have a new challenge for you this week. Find a picture of your younger self, a baby picture works great., and tape it to the mirror in your bathroom. Every day, I want you to look at that picture and remember what it’s like to be a kid. Remember that life is easy, that you can be happy, and that version of you still exists.  Colby Evans | Linktree Mental Health Capsule | Website
