The methods I’ve learned from Olly have been invaluable for my language learning journey. I’ve also taken several of his online courses and they are excellent.

This is one of my favorite podcasts! Any time I’m starting to lose language learning motivation, listening to a few of these episodes always brings it right back. There’s so many good learning tips and I love hearing from all the guest speakers!

I just started listening to Olly’s podcast as I am learning French. I love that this Podcast is dedicated to the language learning process. Each episode I have listened to has inspired and motivated me to keep on pressing on even when I go through the lull thinking I’m not learning. They give me motivation to push through.

I found Olly’s materials some months ago and gradually started listening to this podcast. Every episode gives me some inspiration to keep going with my goal of learning Spanish. I find the whole world of language learning very interesting, and Olly has some great interviews and tips. Thank you, Olly! (His books and courses are very good too!)

Olly and the Team. Thanks so much for creating such a wonderful learning podcast for language leaners. So Olly was kind enough to respond to my email with a link to my inquiry. I'm a beginner in Mandarin and I'm getting better at reading/writing/speaking the language so decided just for fun I thought that I could learn another language with Mandarin. For about two weeks before I contacted Olly, I started learning Thai. At first it was in English but then I thought why not? Let's use Mandarin to learn basic Thai. What's the worst that could happen? Well, I didn't know where this would take me so I reached out to Olly. I listened to episode 299 and 106 on Laddering. These two episodes were an eye opener for me. I didn't know there was a term for something like this. There's a lot of sense in what Olly discusses so I will be curious to see how my experience relates to the podcasts. Anyway, I hope more information on this topic will be come available as I am curious about it. This podcast has been really helpful for me so far. I especially enjoy the episodes about pronunciation and vocab since I’m learning Arabic (MSA) and those are very hard for me. I’ve actually been following your blog for a while and I have to say I’m a fan of your tips and resources (such as your graded readers). Thanks for doing what you do!

I have been studying Italian for a little over 2 yrs and haven’t made as much progress as I’d like. After listening to several episodes, I have gotten so many tips on how to improve my learning. A couple of things I’ve considered doing are studying for and taking language exams and an immersion language class in Italy. There are several episodes on these topics which I’ve found invaluable. I’ll continue to listen and learn more about teaching myself Italian. Grazie mille!

Practical, pragmatic and positive advice to language learning. Olly Richards understands that everyone has a different learning approach, and encourages learners to experiment and find the approach that works best for them.

This is a great resource for aspiring language learners of all levels. Olly does a great job of giving insight through personal experiences and sound research on how to learn languages, what has worked for him, and what may work for his readers. These are not directed toward any particular language and are usually applicable across the board. I listen to many language learning podcasts and I’m always excited when Olly has a new episode. The length is very digestible in a short amount of time. Highly recommend!

Since discovering this podcast, any down time I have to listen to anything, this is my first choice. Olly gives practical advice that is realistic, and that actually answers the questions that I have about learning languages. Other podcasts give you just enough to intrigue you, but then you have to subscribe to their program just to learn more practical tips. I am glad there are multiple episodes so I can take my time to listen to them in no order.

I always listen to it while doing chores. I only let myself listen to this podcast while doing chores. Now, I always really look forward to doing chores My question: How do you get some one who isn’t interested in learning languages to learn a language.

One thing that really resonated with me was when you were saying that you put your vocab in complete usable sentences. After hearing you say that I actually remeber my english teacher in junior high use to make us do that. I assume it helped. Hearing you say to do something that I remember being told to do to learn my own language really stood out as a good method. Thanks for your podcast.

I have to say the past four years have been a complete blast listening to your podcast, reading your short story books in French, Italian Russian and watching you sort through leaps and bounds of creating amazing products to help people learn languages and a fun filled freeway without stressing out about how to go about learning a language. Olly presents language learning as taking time and effort but always worth it. Love the times when there’s an interview the dynamics are great.

I have been a lifelong language dilettante. This year I have a goal to bring up 2 languages to a higher level. I am enjoying this immensely as I I plan my progress. Lots of information and tips and Olly is a good presenter.

Olly has interesting takes on every language learning topic you can imagine. Listening to the podcast helps keep me inspired to work on my current language project. But having studied several languages, I can see how I will be able to apply his advice to when I go back and delve into my previous languages. It’s a great show with a great host.

This podcast gives me a helpful break from studying and motivates me to keep moving forward. I don’t need to learn a language out of necessity, but only for personal satisfaction, so it’s easy to let other priorities in life crowd out time for language learning. Olly’s personal language story and his helpful tips encourage me to keep going. One day I hope to be multilingual like him!

Great podcast with a lot of practical and heartfelt advice. The episodes are long enough to get to enough depth to understand the topic, but not so long that they turn into dissertations. It helps me stay motivated and provides useful tips for my learning. Also, Olly also has a great radio voice.

I enjoy this podcast because the author produces the shows regularly and covers a large range of topics. He has his own philosophy of how to best learn, but is open minded enough to bring on other people and consider other methods.

I recently discovered this podcast and I just love it! I have been backtracking so I can catch up on all of the episodes. Olly is truly an inspiration for language learners and I find his advice very helpful. This is definitely a must-listen for language learners, no matter what language you're learning.

I have been listening to this podcast for a few months now, and I have listened to every episode. I find Olly’s advice and approach to be absolutely spot on. Many of the the things he recommends are things I’ve already learned from experience, but I wish I had listened to his podcast from the beginning of my language learning journey, then I would have avoided so many of the inevitable mistakes you make when you don’t know what you’re doing. Olly has a lot of experience learning languages, and he draws on both his successes and failures in describing the types of approaches that do and don’t work. He also seems to have a natural gift for breaking down the process into a succinct and easily understood presentation. In my opinion, he’s the absolute best of all the language learning podcasters out there, in terms of providing practicable advice and inspiring anecdotes. In fact, I even listen to most episodes twice, to make sure I’ve fully absorbed the info. Thanks Olly for your amazing podcast.

I commute to work 75-90 minutes each way every day. I listen to audiobooks, podcasts, and language learning CDs. I recently discovered Olly's podcasts. I like the length. They are a positive break from strenuous listening. The podcasts answer questions I have asked for years about language learning. There are a lot of tips for language learners. The style is light, but not shallow, challenging, but not overwhelming. These episodes are now at the top of my list of preferred podcasts.

I have been listening to this podcast for 3-4 months now, and Olly is one of my go to guys for tips and motivation to keep working on learning Dutch. His methods are simple and effective. I love the fact that he answers listener's questions. It's really helpful to see how he connects questions that people (including me) have to good solid language learning principles. He also offers ideas on how to apply this principle. When I feel my motivation dropping, listening to this podcast gets me going again!
