Whitney shares her unique story of discovering art at age 3 and her path to becoming a self-supporting full-time artist, author, and entrepreneur. ---ARTIST STATEMENT--- “I believe what makes me a successful artist is often a paradox of mindsets: whimsical and free thinking with my ideas yet disciplined and commanding to execute those ideas. I spend countless hours on my art—from conception to completion my mind is always calculating the next move to bring everything I visualize to life. My creative mission is to consistently move towards new challenging work: I believe that is what enthralls the viewer to see beyond the art and into my soul as it in turn touches their own.” -Whitney Whitney is a self-taught multi-disciplinary fine artist practicing in the mediums of drawing since she was 3, painting since she was 15 and collage since she was 27. Born in Alaska into a 3rdgeneration commercial fishing family and raised in Mukilteo, WA, she attended Duke University on athletic scholarship and in 2009 received her B.A. in Fine Arts. Whitney’s signature style is contemporary realism with a flare of pop-cultural nostalgia. She considers herself as “old school, raw and a purist” in that she does not intermix different mediums or partake in the liberties of this modern tech era to achieve her collage masterpieces: everything is free-handed and that stems from the thousands of hours refining her fundamental art skills over the past 25years. This is reflected early on in her childhood: “I didn’t like coloring books or tracing, I was always a blank, white slate kid.” Her blue-collar upbringing also prepared her way as an artist. There were no shortcuts to being successful: pure passion, drive and long hours make up a signature Whitney L Anderson art piece. She has displayed her work nationally including Miami, Los Angeles, New York City, Seattle and Denver. Episode 2 of the I Am A Creative Podcast features Dominic Martinez (ProdByDom), an up and coming music producer, engineer, and musician based in Nashville, TN. Dom shares his journey from aspiring childhood rapper to recently being asked to join huge country artist Lee Brice’s production team. Dom creates full productions for various genres and artists. He has a wide appreciation for all genres of music and enjoys experimenting with new sounds. The main genres he works in are Pop, Rap/Hip-Hop, R&B, and Country. Growing up Dominic was always surrounded by various artists in his home. He got into my own music at the age of 12, playing piano, and recording his own vocals. By the age of 14 he got his first DAW and started experimenting with production, and since then has turned producing into his passion and is growing every day. By the time he was 17, Dom was working with friends and various artists he met through Instagram, mainly making Rap/Pop music. During these years of making music with different artists, he would build his catalog of beats and sounds to produce for his collaborators. Making 5-10 beats daily was always a goal so that he was prepared anytime anyone asked him for beats or needed him to make something on the spot. During these sessions he would have to track their vocals and engineer them as well. Tracking in Pro Tools, and FL Studio, he was able to grow at mixing and tracking. Dominic works with various artists from around the world, and helps different clients to bring their songs and ideas to life. Episode 1 features Stephenlucas, a talented multi-media artist out of Nashville, TN.  Stephen has always loved music, photography and videography, but it wasn’t until recently that he found his voice. His passion for creativity was sparked at an early age when he discovered soccer. It gave him the opportunity to use his whole body to express himself in ways that words could not describe. Soccer taught him how important hard work and passion are in achieving success as well as understanding the power of teamwork. Ever since then, he has been on this path of creative expression through different forms of art - all with one goal: making people feel something new or see things differently than they did before (or both).
