In this episode Laura and I discuss our trip across Route 66! This year marks the 100 year centennial for Americas mother road. We start on the west coast in California, working our way back across all 8 states to Illinois. We discuss some of the attractions in every state, along with some sights off the course that make the trip even more worthwhile! Some of the attractions we discuss include the Grand Canyon, the Santa Monica Pier, Monument Valley, Big Sur, and Los Angeles! In this months movie review, Justin and I discuss the 2013 movie Prisoners. Some movies deal with conflict of man vs. nature, man vs.beast, and man vs man. This movie highlights the conflicts of man vs. himself! This movie thriller makes you question your moral compass in the situation of risk of jail time for the safety of your family, or let the judicial system run its course. Hugh Hackman delivers a powerful performance and faces these difficult decisions when his daughter and another girl are kidnapped from a neighborhood. In this month’s movie review, Justin and I discuss the 1962 John Wayne film Hatari. This movie follows a diverse comical crew, as they fill orders for zoos across the world, catching animals in the plains of Africa! This movie was one of the top 10 movies of the year at that time, which during filming all cast did their own stunts! This movie also gives us another look at John Wayne from his typical cowboy role. The movie also contains a well known musical number from Henry Mancini called the Baby Elephant Walk.

In this months movie review Justin and I discuss the 2014 thriller, Whiplash! The movie stars an all star cast including Miles Teller and J.K. Simmons. The movie follows music student Andrew Neiman, as he follows his goal to become a world known jazz drummer. As he embarks on his passion for fame, he encounters the mysterious music director, Fletcher. What starts out as a casual practice, turns into a traumatic, life altering contest of who had what it takes! Can Andrew keep up with Fletcher’s tempo?

In this months movie review, Justin and I discuss the 2016 true life story The Lost City of Z! This movie tells the story of Percy Fawcett’s multiple expeditions to the jungles of Brazil, looking for a lost ancient civilization. He and his crew face multiple up hill battles in search of the secret past to include, attacks by cannibals, crew members eaten by piranha’s, starvation, floods, and in the end kidnapped! Will they escape? Listen to find out! In the end we discuss what it means to have an Ernest Hemingway spirit, to go out and follow your passion and longing for adventure! His fate rest in the hands of 12 jurors. This movie still stands the test of time as one of best court room dramas in movie history! For a 70 year movie, it still has a 100% rating in rotten tomatoes, and still considered one of the greatest movies ever made! What will be the young man’s sentence? Grab a drink and find out!

Dave walks us through his childhood adjusting from reading lips to sign language in college, to his cochlear implant surgery later in life,to finding his passion teaching law enforcement agencies across the state in how to better prepare the encounters with the deaf community! Dave discusses the do’ s and don’t s when coming in contact with a deaf person, and provides visual aids to make the encounter more comfortable for both parties!
