How Do I Deal with a Parent Who Changed After Loss?
I haven’t even finished this podcast episode yet, but I needed to leave a review immediately. My mom passed almost seven years ago and my dad hasn’t been the same since. Not that it’s expected. But what I’ve learned in the last year is that it’s common apparently. That alone is comforting! Also, it’s something no one talks about. Thank you, Ryanne, for putting a name to something so many of us grieving feel but never voice.

I found Ryanne on Instagram (if you don’t follow her already, I highly recommend!) and instantly related to her thoughtful, sympathetic and real approach to the grieving process. I’m a (15-year) mom grief veteran, but I’ve recently found myself experiencing new waves of mourning for my dear mama. I tuned in to the “How Do I Do This?” podcast in hopes of finding a sort of “sisterhood,” and I have been rewarded with more in-depth insights, similar to those Ryanne shares on Instagram. If you are looking for support as a member of the club we never wanted to join, I encourage you to give this podcast a listen!

Honest, Raw, and Comforting
This podcast is truly amazing!! It meets you in the places no one prepares you for. After losing my dad and then shortly after my mom, I found myself completely lost, especially without my mom. Listening to How Do I Do This has resonated with me in so many ways. I’m five years into my grief journey, grief still feels like a fog. This podcast puts words to those feelings..raw, honest, and real.

Sass Sans Sugar-coating
Navigating grief looks so very different and ugly sometimes, and I'm forever grateful for my people like Ryanne who aren't afraid to be raw and real. This podcast is teaching me how to drive through difficulties with a tad more grace. If you are craving encouragement without the sugarcoating, listen to this!

I look forward to listening to this every week. Even if you’re not dealing with grief, it’s just a great show about life.

Worth every second
You have a million podcasts to choose from. True crime, comedy, news, a million categories, really. But this podcast is the one that’s going to help. This podcast is the one where you’re gonna find that best girlfriend who is also going through it. And not only is she going through it, she’s figuring out how to get through it. And while she’s doing that, she’s taking us along with her. And while that best girlfriend’s issue may be different than yours, the mountains she’s climbing and the paths she’s taking look a lot like mine, and my other girlfriend’s, and probably yours too. So yeah, Dateline and Serial aren’t going anywhere, and they’re certainly a solid form of self-care for some of us, but take a minute to pause for this one. Because this one might just change you. For the better. At a minimum, it will help, and can’t we all use a little help?

Real and Raw and Funny!
I’ve gone through a lot of grief in my life and have shoved it down. Ryanne brings it into the light and confronts it head on. There were parts of my life with grief that I didn’t even recognize as grief! If you are looking for a podcast that will captivate you, and also make you laugh, this is the one for you. It’s almost been like therapy and I am so thankful that I found this.

Honest talk on tricky subjects
Listening to Ryanne discuss some of the topics that we, as “ good southern girls,” are not supposed to think about, is a refreshing dose of honesty. Laugh along with her, but also hear some great takes.
