Cliff Hillis
Known for his upbeat brand of literate and memorable tunes, Cliff Hillis has established himself as one of the leading songwriters in pop/rock music today. His music evokes the sunny pop of the '60s & '70s and has garnered national radio airplay.  Rising to the challenge of collaborating with his band during the COVID-19 pandemic, Cliff, along with co-producer / musician Greg Maragos (Smash Palace, In The Pocket) and drummer Pat Berkery (War On Drugs, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Pernice Brothers) embraced the creative power of technology to completed their newest release, Life Gets Strange, while remaining socially isolated. It was released in November 2020. In addition to his outstanding solo music, Cliff has co-written with critically acclaimed songwriters such as Danny Wilde (The Rembrandts), Rhett Miller (Old 97's), and troubadour Dan Bern. Cliff has also toured the world as a performer with numerous bands, such as: The Orchestra (featuring ELO former members), Patty Smyth & Scandal, Starbelly, US Rails, The Hooters’ David Uosikkinen’s In the Pocket, and Smash Palace. http://www.cliffhillis.com/

The Caulfields - John Faye & Brett Talley
John Faye has been in the music business, in many ways, for over three decades. His impressive musical resume dates back to his major label days fronting '90s alt-rockers The Caulfields (whose single "Devil's Diary" cracked the modern rock top-40, and whose album tracks landed on soundtracks for Disney's "The Babysitter's Club" and "Melrose Place"), to his first solo foray The John Faye Power Trip, which morphed into IKE (who put out 6 full-length records from 2003-2011), to his punk/garage-rock influenced duo John & Brittany (who gained notoriety on the Sirius/XM channel "Little Steven's Underground Garage"), to John Faye & Those Meddling Kids!, and now once again with the reunited Caulfields.  John's upcoming memoir, tentatively titled Days That Came And Went, is scheduled to be published sometime in 2021. http://www.johnfaye.com/ Brett Talley's outstanding musical career includes his two years as lead guitarist and producer for the Philly based pop-rock act, OutSet, lead guitarist for one of Philadelphia’s most popular rock outfits, IKE, The Caulfields, and now as a solo artist. Brett also performs as lead guitarist and secondary vocalist in the Philadelphia cover band Bangarang. Brett's most recent solo effort, Perpetual States, is a personal statement of loss and discovery. “I view it as a loose concept album with themes being the overarching stories of birth, death, and rebirth", he says.   http://thatmusicmag.com/perpetual-states-a-walk-with-brett-talley/

Steve Coffey of Rockin' Pontoons - November 06, 2007
Steve Coffey of the Rockin’ Pontoons came by the Gumbo Show with Joe and hung out with us on Tuesday, November 6, 2007. Steve and the Pontoons have accumulated an impressive following around the Atlanta area and we've been fans ever since we first heard "Hank" (which is also the first song heard during the interview below). Critics have raved about the Pontoons' debut album Faith in a Happy Ending, and we’d go right along with them. Performing Songwriter magazine even selected it as a “Top-12 DIY” national pick! Steve is a very funny and entertaining guy, and we enjoyed hearing some of his hilarious stories as well as his fine music.

Joe Pitts - November 16, 2007
We were fortunate enough to have acclaimed blues artist Joe Pitts join us in Georgia on the way back to his home state of Arkansas. Joe is a powerful, soulful & multi-talented performer who has been compared to guitarists like Warren Haynes, Michael Burks, Larry McCray, Walter Trout and Joe Bonamassa. Although his influences range from Duane Allman and Dickey Betts to Roy Buchanan, Joe is best known for his slide guitar work with the band Liquid Groove Mojo. Touted as one of Arkansas' best bands, the International touring band has played hundreds of shows, touring Europe and the Midwest/Midsouth. Joe has been widely recongized for his vocals as well, having been chosen as one of the best vocalists of the year at the 2006 Indie Artist Radio awards. Sweet! Joe came by to talk with Frank "the Hounddog" about touring, Joe's music, and all sorts of other interesting stuff. We hope to have Joe back in the Doghouse again soon.
