Daughter
I am one of four girls in my family and was raised by very religious and conservative parents. They chose to not include birth control in our family insurance plan and primarily used “scare tactics” with my sisters and I so that we would not have under-age pregnancies. I am now 29 years old and feel like I have navigated the world of hormones and my female anatomy entirely on my own. Sadly I have found that I’ve been afraid to even educate myself, because the whole world of sex scared me and the thought of becoming pregnant and having a child seemed like the worst possible thing that could ever happen to me. Being afraid seems silly now that I’m older and have taken matters into my own hands and become a progressive, educated and independent thinker. Yet I’m sad that I lived in fear for so many years simply because of my parents beliefs and how wrong they were/are for not helping their four daughters understand their bodies and have a healthy relationship with basic human anatomy and function. I am not a mother and still feel that is not a fate that I wish for my life but wonder if I would feel differently had this fear not be engrained into my psyche. If I had a resource like the Clue app and this podcast as a young woman, I think I would have a much healthier relationship with my female identity. I appreciate the work you are doing and offer my support!

Glossing Over Eugenics
In the latest episode Happy Birthday, birth control!, the guest sugarcoats eugenics. This is not okay. We can only move forward by actually confronting problematic history. Hormonal and the Clue app have lost my trust.

Good info, great time
For everyone who menstruates or just wants to learn more about cool human body stuff.

Learned so much!
Love the suggestion on how to talk to your doctor about side effects. My doctor never asked me about side effects when I was in the pill and I had really terrible mood swings

Absolutely fascinating
Fascinating discussion. This is the kind of content everyone should listen to, especially since it affects so many people in different ways. Also props to bringing inclusivity into this topic. Lots of research still to be done, but very cool to have educated and experienced voices diving into hormonal birth control. Well done

Breaking taboos
Love learning about these subjects that have been more or less taboo for majority of my life. Also, I love Rhea’s soothing voice; it’s totally relaxing.☺️

So excited!
Clue is such an amazing and informational app, and this podcast does NOT disappoint!

New Episodes?!
Why you don’t produce any new episodes?

Love the science (and the host)
I love how informative and rooted in research everything is. Even as someone who would consider myself fairy knowledge about these topics, I learned a lot and gained perspective/new ways of thinking. Also, unlike some of the other reviews, I find the host’s voice very nice and relaxing (personal preference, I guess). This podcast was one of the things that finally pushed me over the edge in subscribing to clue plus (yay!)

Loved it, but may need some tweaks
I loved the information and the people invited, but listening was a challenge at times. My main complaint is that the interviews seem robotic at times and they don’t seem to connect very well. Maybe work or adjust the script or editing to make it seem more friendly and less question-answer, question-answer.

So informative!
The things I learn on this podcast are useful and empowering, and I’ve really enjoyed it!

Love!
I have been using clue since my first period 5 years go! This podcast is awesome :)

Great info but
I agree with the other people on here. Host and speakers are so bland! Find a host with a more excitement. I have started to listen to a few of these and had to stop because it’s so boring listening to them. I know we’ve got someone out there who can keep us engaged. Info is good..what I’ve listened to. You can do this Clue people!!!!!

Awesome podcast!
Honestly, when I first got my period, I had no idea what to do. I talked to my sister, and she introduced me to Clue’s app. I later learned about the podcast, and I think that it helped me through soooo much. Thank you!

Wrong host
See previous poster’s comment titled “wrong host”. I agree 100% that the host sounds like she’s reading and makes juvenile comments that make this podcast unbearable for me :/
GoldenGrlzzz001
Wrong host
This has the potential to be a very informative and interesting podcast but I dislike the hosts comments and feel they are often times very immature and juvenile. I’m 35 but I feel like the host is probably 18. Please get a different host, she speaks too slowly and is clearly reading, I want to continue listening to the show but the host makes it unbearable at times.

Robotic monotone pacing
Was excited about this pod but struggle to listen because the narrator sounds like they’re reading from a script for a kids TV show. Comes off as robotic and fake like a tv commercial. The content could be great but can’t say because I never get far enough in to hear the interesting info.

Very informative. Love it!
Finally, an open and truthful conversation on hormones. Would love to hear one on the side effects of birth controls speaking the FACTS and how harmful its side effects are.
Pecan_01
Distracted by the slowness of the narrator
I really want to like this podcast but I keep getting distracted with how slow and unnatural the narrator speaks, it feels like she’s reading a script instead of talking normally. It detracts from the actual content for me unfortunately.

Informative, Interesting, On Point
Highly recommend this podcast for any gender and any age. I will definitely be listening with my son as a way to open conversation and dialog about women, sexism, and hormone health. Wish this kind of information was available when i was in my teens and twenties. Thank you for the thoughtful topics and interview questions. PS-I having been use Clue to track my cycle for a year and I really like the app. It is not in my budget to subscribe but i would love to donate to your cause/charity. Would like to see an option for a one-time donation in the app.

Good but needs adjustments
The information is really interesting and informative, but the host’s speaking style is insane. I understand she’s trying to annunciate, but she speaks so slowly and in such a stilted fashion that it makes me feel like I’m losing my grip on reality. Never in my life have I listened to podcasts sped up, but I have to listen to this at 1.5 speed just to be able to bear it. I really want to keep listening but I don’t know if I can if she keeps speaking this way. Please, I BEG you to speak like a normal person 😂

Informative but LGBTQ+ Exclusive
I've used Clue for years and always appreciated its informative, thorough nature. Using it has improved my life a lot with regards to tracking and managing my menstrual symptoms. As a big fan of podcasts, I was excited when I heard that Clue was putting one out. I think the podcast's topic and interview format are excellent. I really appreciate getting to hear from experts how hormones function, both biologically and socioculturally. One of the things I've always appreciated about the Clue app is how gender-indifferent it is; there's no pink, no "girls and ladies" language, just a simple interface and universally applicable information. So I was really disappointed when I tuned into the second episode and heard the expert being interviewed repeatedly referring to people who have periods exclusively as "women." Trans men and nonbinary/gender non-conforming individuals also menstruate; I figure that the show's host knows this, because she usually uses pretty gender-inclusive language. I was a little disheartened that the guest speaker was not also conscious of this. I felt the same when the distinction was made between "heterosexual relationships" vs. "lesbian relationships" — as a bisexual person, none of the relationships I have fall in either of those categories, because I'm not "heterosexual" or "lesbian" when I'm in them. The content of the episode was quite informative and interesting, especially since PMS an often ignored and misunderstood topic, but I just couldn't get past the feeling of isolation and exclusion I felt when hearing that terminology used. I really want to like this podcast and keep listening! It would mean a lot to me (and no doubt others in the LGBTQ+ community) if the cast, including its expert interviewees, were more intentional about using inclusive language.

PMS is real. PMS isn’t real.
This is strictly a review on the episode mentioned above. Am I the only one that was angered by this? I was feeling PMS symptoms way before I knew there was a name for it. Starting 1-2 weeks before my period begins, I am an eating machine, I cannot stop eating. I will even get up in the middle of the night with hunger pains and eat. Aside from that, usually over a week before, my boobs hurt so bad and I’m more sensitive to pain in general. Ex: stubbing my toe feels like the worst thing ever and I have even cried from such a thing when PMSing. I also suffer from insomnia but also extreme fatigue during this time. I can also ASSURE you I get angry, super angry and it is NOT because of the actual issue itself, I overreact and feel like I cannot control how angry I get. I become mean. These are just some of my pms issues and I kept it private for the first part of my menstruating-life. I did not hear anything about PMS or people blaming these issues on PMS. It became my detector for my period and I thought I was the only one who had this I was not influenced by the culture around me, in my house we never talked about periods, it was not something to talk about. My PMS is definitely caused at least 85% by hormones. I would say 100% but there is definitely some validity to cultural influence or other personal issues occurring in life and clearly Dr is more knowledgeable than me but it just seems like she is just boxing women in, basically stating that it’s not truly hormones and I feel like many women would disagree and it is NOT in our heads. These symptoms are not psychosomatic, at least not for everyone. I mean psychosomatic in terms of societal influence.

Very interesting!
Interesting and accessible podcast from the makers of the amazing Clue app.

Inclusive, expansive, and fun.
Kudos to Rhea Ramjohn for making this podcast relevant and inclusive. In particular, making a point to talk about people who menstruate - rather than just women - makes me love this podcast even more.

So fun, and so much potential
I don’t like my period, but it happens and you always need a code name. Tip, if you want to ask a girl if they’re on their period, say “Are you on your dot yet?” Some people are going think I some weird thing friends have. It works. I love Clue! It’s super helpful. This podcast is beautiful. It explains so my co about me and I’m totally sharing this podcast with my lady friends! I also recommend Always Flex Foam pads. I love them during my dance classes/competitions. I know it’s there when I put it on, but you don’t remember it and it’s not there. It feels like it isn’t there but it IS! I’ve never had a bleed though with them. l i f e c h a n g i n g . Tell your boyfriend what’s going on if you feel comfortable with it. My boyfriend has a twin sister and he totally gets it. Go for it, don’t be shy. But don’t make it a big deal.

Great topic and so much potential
I love the concept of the podcast but it is very dry, very scripted that I find it requiring effort to get through the whole episode. This is a topic women talk about amongst each other. Relaxing the conversation and dialogue could make it better.
toyotacamly
Less scripted
I was very excited to see this Podcast become available on my Clue app. I enjoyed the first episode a lot but I could tell the host was reading and almost speaking TOO clearly. I appreciate the effort on making the messages clear but for Podcasts I want to feel like I’m having a conversation with the speaker. I want my ears to feel relaxed if that makes sense 😂 maybe it felt too scripted just because it was the 1st one so I am very excited to hear more!

Engaging and informative
I thoroughly enjoyed the podcast and the historical context the information was presented in. I’m a family physician and would love an in-depth episode about the different birth control options and specifically the different generation OCPs versus progesterone content in the different IUDs, implants, etc. Thank you, and keep up the great work! -Sarah

Great info
I learned a lot. Can I suggest that for a future episode, you focus on PCOS and the researches around it?

Be more relaxed!
Conversation feels very dry and stiff. Would be more engaging if hosts and guests speak much more relaxed. I mean I know it’s scripted but c’mon.

Awesome!!
I’m so glad that Clue is starting a podcast. The episode wasn’t very long but it covered so much and in such a straight forward and easy to understand manner.

Wow

Informative
I’m looking forward to hearing the history and scientific findings to women’s health. I always feel like I just don’t know enough: women’s health is still unfortunately a bit of a undeveloped science, periods are still taboo. I suppose it’s getting better but it’s nice to be able to hear such a thoughtful conversation.

This is fascinating!
Love love loved listening to this and can not wait for future episodes!

Education is Power
I work in Maternal Health in the developing world and am always pleased to find more resources that educate and inform about Women’s health. There can never be “too much” information out there, we all need it! Please in the future, if you could explore Sheehan’s Syndrome, that would be incredible!

Excited for this!
As a biology student who knows a fair amount about the endocrine system, and as a long time user of clue app, I am really excited to explore this topic and learn more. A very good first episode.

Curious
I had a hysterectomy on March 9 2019 but wasn’t able to find a support group that talks about the hormonal effect the procedure has on a women who keeps her ovaries. I hope this podcast expends on this topic.

So EXCITED for this
I hate how little I know about what goes on with my body, my menstrual cycle, and my insane hormones. Up until a 2 years ago when I got my IUD I just thought I was crazy before I realized my insane month long mood swings were due to my heavy periods. This kind of information is SO important and I honestly can not wait to learn more ❤️

Yes yes yes
um ok. i need this so much 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

I’ve always wanted to better understand hormones, especially as someone with a period and someone who suffers from hormonal acne. Bring it on the info!
