I recognize media outlets write headlines to draw attention and or inform the audience. I do this in respect to the family of Seandell, who lost his life this weekend in Millennium Park. Whether you are listening, reading, watching or not— we honor his life, and your family.

Maybe the cycle of violence will never end. Will it? What if I want to change? I don’t want to keep living like this.

The world had free shots at the Smith family, from Willow and her hair to Jada and hers. Everything in between. Here I share a conversation I had with one of the first students to be employed with Hood Heroes, as it relates to this current event. Forgive me for the beeping you hear in the back occasionally. I’m learning some things about balance right now, and they’re challenging me more than I’d like. But I know balance keeps us walking upright. Balance keeps a a car on the road and driving straight. Balance makes for a smooth flight. Turbulence may come and it will be uncomfortable. But in order that we might reach our destination, balance is necessary and it will certainly get us there.

Here I can share a situation that took place. I believe it to be one that resonates with many educators, parents, family members, and neighbors in the Hood.
