Tips to Create a Healthy Plate without the Fuss
4 Key points in creating a healthy plate.- Keep it Simple - we usually have foods to make a healthy plate already in the house. - Look at lifestyle - how are your eating patterns and behaviors affected by your lifestyle or the other way around?- Pair and combine foods at meals and snacks- start with small changes. - Often missed component of creating a healthy plate is satisfaction- Can make all the difference. How to get 3 or more food groups in a meal without the fuss in under 10 minutes! Good tasting, nutritious food... No problem! What you need to make a healthy plate you probably already have in your fridge or pantry anyway. Let’s make it simple! Nutrition and the biology of food can be so complex, let’s not make it even harder on ourselves. How much you eat in a day or even at meals depends on a multitude of factors that you might not even consider from day to day. Factors include: sleep or lack there of, stress level, activity level, timing between meals, components of meals, satisfaction level, hydration status, environment, our attention, body awareness, social effects and more. .. So if you’re wondering why calories in calories out isn’t as straight forward as you thought …. there’s other reasons to consider.Components of a Healthy Plate6 food groups: protein, carbohydrates, dairy, fats, fruits, vegetables. The body needs essential nutrients from all of these groups to support body functions, reduce the risk of nutrient deficiencies, and  to balance and maintain optimal health. Another important component to add is satisfaction! A part of creating a healthy plate includes satisfaction as well! If you want to reduce the amount of times you scour the cupboards try including satisfaction with your meals 1st. It promotes contentment and can lead to you deciding you’ve had just enough. Weight woes and diet struggles... Brenda shares how she turned it all around!I met Brenda through TD Wellness as she was looking for a "nutritionist" at the onset of the pandemic. Brenda shares her journey in finding peace with food and establishing a better relationship with herself and approach to wellness. . Brenda is an active member in her community and has offered a life long career in service to others. Brenda currently resides in the Atlanta area and her background includes serving as an assistant principal and school administrator, middle and secondary school counselor as well as an elementary school teacher.
