M talks about finding her bio-family in Columbia. All of the time she was growing up middle-class in California, her family has been living in poverty in Columbia. She's had a much different life than they can even imagine.

Can you imagine looking for your birthparents for years and then getting a response and a picture 2 minutes after sending a facebook message? 

Blood ties are deep. We talk about Zach's younger brother asking about him before he knew he existed and what the reunion with his bio-grandparents was like.  We discuss how people react when Zach says he has two moms and two families. 

Karen talks about Zach knocking on her door, his adoptive parents and telling people their story. It's oddly intimate to tell an adoption reunion story. It seems to tap into people's experiences with their family of origin and can inspire people to open up or shut down.

B meets with us a few days after the 2 year anniversary of her abortion. She speaks very candidly about her emotion, spirituality and conflicting emotions about the decision. 

M talks about her experience of knowing that he son was supposed to be in her life and feeling committed to him once she saw his photo. She talks about the frustration and pain of adopting from Guatemala, where the local notario held her case up for so long, that they thought the adoption wasn't going to happen at all.
