Glen Mayes II
Glen Mayes II has worked with youth in some capacity for over 15 years. Beginning as a corrections officer, then supervisor in Juvenile Corrections, Glen was moved toward preventative intervention work after running for Austin ISD School Board in 2010. Glen achieved his Sundara Yoga Therapy Instructor certification (RYT 200) and Trauma Informed Yoga therapist certification, this knowledge assisted his incoming challenges.  Yoga is one platform in which Glen has led youth programs, including teaching classes at private and charter schools. He has lead numerous sports-affiliated after school programs, including co-founding H.A.L.O an elite after-school sports and leadership program, Wooldridge Elementary Soccer Stars, Fulmore ACE after school program, and is an experiential-based learning expert.  Glen was nominated for Austin Under 40 (AU40) three times and was a finalist in his last appearance in the category of Youth and Education and has relocated to Colorado. Texas native, Glen Mayes has worn many hats, but the one that led him into the marijuana industry is: father.  Glen’s nine year-old son Orion was diagnosed with a neurological disorder at 2 months old.  Glen was certified by the state of Texas to administer pharmaceuticals as a supervisor in a correctional facility for ten years in Taylor and Travis county.  That knowledge base motivated his search for a safer medication for his son and lead him to be a caregiver for five other Colorado Medical Marijuana patients.  During his time in Colorado, Glen has worked in the marijuana industry with companies such as The Clear and most recently, as President and CEO of a hemp processing company Verified Texas Hemp. He is bringing his knowledge gained back home to ensure quality products from genetics to post harvest. IG@holdingthespacepodcast Facebook: Holding the space with Glen Mayes

Good Men To Do Nothing
The only thing necessary for Evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. "Let not any one pacify his conscience by the delusion that he can do no harm if he takes no part, and forms no opinion. Bad men need nothing more to compass their ends, than that good men should look on and do nothing. He is not a good man who, without a protest, allows wrong to be committed in his name, and with the means which he help to supply, because he will not trouble himself to use his mind on the subject." Big and Strong
Today, we are exploring the ideas of heroism. From a specific viewpoint that I've thought about often. The Idea of SuperHeroes and how it changes the world. Is it an emotional setup to believe in Super Heroes? Who has control of scripts? 1) What are we teaching our kids about resiliency? Is it that you will always be picked up when you fall down? Most people in depression have never been given a road map. They’ve just been categorized for their current state not what they are going through. Escaping depression is possible but if you know that you are in the throes of a depressive state, give yourself time to recover. Life is tough and I believe depression and anxiety are increasing due to the huge pressures we all face. There is a lack of resources to help people and we are all muddling along trying to make the most of a bad situation at times. Life can be good again. 2) Are we the only country that does this in our movies and therefore giving a false sense of hope? If you’re trying to lull someone into hopefulness you don’t want to give them a sense of false hope. Rather, you want to make them feel really hopeful, although such hope is unjustified. So what you should say is “a false sense of hope.” 3) What transfers to the kids: When he is scared and he faces his challenges to you hear what he says? Building Trust while allowing them to have range enough to get hurt and get back in the bike and over the same obstacles that held you up in the first place. Big and Strong and bowing to say thank you God for making me comfortable.
