His romantic journey takes him through several stages, helping him find his purpose. The movie was an industry hit and eventually attained cult status. Everything Everywhere All At Once is a genre-bending sci-fi, comedy, and family drama written and directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert (collectively known as Daniels). The cast includes Michelle Yeoh, Stephanie Hsu, Ke Huy Quan, Jenny Slate, Harry Shum Jr., James Hong, and Jamie Lee Curtis.  The New York Times called the film a "swirl of genre anarchy" with elements of surreal comedy, science fiction, fantasy, martial arts films, and animation. The film has received near-universal acclaim for its portrayal of philosophical concepts such as existentialism, nihilism, and absurdism, as well as other themes including generational trauma, ADHD, and Asian-American identity. In this episode of HOLD MY DVD, we're breaking down Memories of Murder (2003). I'm joined by Rohit; a designer, music fanatic, and an incredible human being. [WARNING: this episode contains major spoilers] Memories of Murder is a 2003 South Korean crime thriller film co-written and directed by Bong Joon-ho (Director of Parasite). It is loosely based on the true story of Korea's first confirmed serial murders, which occurred between 1986 and 1991 in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province. Song Kang-ho (the dad from Parasite) and Kim Sang-Kyung star as Detective Park and Detective Seo, respectively, two of the detectives trying to solve the crimes. The film has earned critical acclaim for its tone, cinematography, editing, score, Song's performance, and Bong's direction and screenplay. The film received thirty awards and nominations and is considered by many to be one of the best Asian films ever made. I'm joined by Amisha (@madebyamisha), who is an artist, writer, traveler, and incredible human being.  CODA (Children of Deaf Adults) is a wonderful story about a girl and her family where she is the only hearing member, who attempts to help her family's struggling fishing business while pursuing her own aspirations of being a singer. The movie uses deaf actors to play the deaf characters, and communicate using American Sign Language. CODA won numerous awards, including the three nominations it received at the 94th Academy Awards – Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor for Kotsur, and Best Adapted Screenplay – becoming the first film both distributed by a streaming service to win Best Picture.
