Hitting the Bottle
Hitting the Bottle
Hitting the Bottle
Two Moms. Two Kids. Too many reasons to give two shits. Alysia and Sarah share a love of motherhood, cocktails, and sitting down for some real talk. They created the Hitting the Bottle Podcast for parents who need to be reminded that they’re not alone with their thoughts. Sometimes it’s hard to talk about the darkness that comes for some during maternity leave or the fact that you actually don’t want to spend every waking second with your child. We all experience different forms of happiness, sadness, and anxiety - so you don’t have to be a parent to listen and join in on the conversation. BUT we will be talking about vaginas a lot. Because those things are the gateway to creation!
Sex, Gender + Bullshit
This week Sarah + Alysia talk about sex, gender + (how it's) bullshit! For so long we’ve been separated by social constructs built by each other. To categorize, to regulate, to identify and to ultimately discriminate. This week we sit down to talk about gender roles and their roles in our current society. Spoiler: we don’t believe in gender qualifications and don’t believe any one person must fall into any one category. Body Talkin'
Trigger Warning: This week's episode speaks heavily about eating disorders and mental health. After exposing and evoking Alysia's arachnophobia, talking about their 4th of July plans, and some other nonsensical chatter - Sarah + Alysia continue to touch on some hard conversations inspired by a post by @soyouwanttotalkabout. Attempting to destigmatize 'taboo' topics, this week's conversation surrounds Eating Disorders. Sarah goes into some detail about her experience and her new journey into recovery and how difficult it is to just have a body and exist in our society today. Sex and Confidence with Erika Eileen
Alysia + Sarah sit down with Erika Eileen who is a Confidence + Sex Coach. This conversation is fun and sexy and was a damn good time to record. They touch on body image, normalizing sex sounds, the importance of communication and the way society has programmed our brains to believe ‘sex’ is a shameful word and that talking about it honestly is not something you do. *Unfortunately the last few minutes were cut off due to a technical recording error, so pardon the end transition. Spill the Whine Takeover with Tiffany of @postpartumpsycho
Alysia + Sarah let someone else talk, for once. This week the ‘Spill the Whine’ segment is an extremely raw, vulnerable share submitted by Tiffany of @postpartumpsycho. We discovered her via one of our favorite podcasts - My Favorite Murder - and knew her story must be shared with all of you. Tiffany has been on a powerful postpartum journey managing her mental health (sever postpartum depression + psychosis) while working and raising her child. To say we are in awe of her is putting it lightly. You can find Tiffany on instagram, and if you hear yourself in her words - please know you are not alone. We are in this together, and we can help you find the support you need. A Matter of Opinions
Alysia + Sarah sit down and talk non-facts. That's right, all the opinions - mostly unpopular ones. Opinions about gender roles, playdates, leashes, resilience and a million in between - it's a great conversation. In our humble opinion. Let's Talk About Sex, (After) Baby
Alysia + Sarah chat with Chelsey of the MILF podcast. (That’s “Mom I’d Like To Friend”, to you!) The Episode starts off being a way for us to discuss our different experiences with postpartum sex; however, it turned into a conversation between three women in different stages expressing their feeling about sexuality and the female body postpartum - a place we found ourselves on equal ground. Holy Mother
Trigger Warning: This week's episode discusses cancer and the loss of a parent. If these topics are hard for you to listen to, this may not be the episode for you. We see you and love you. This week Alysia + Sarah are finally recording in person! They talk about California living, the ambiance and cozy set-up for this week's recording, a beautiful (or bizarre?) "memorial" Sarah created for her grandmother, and a multitude of other things. Then Sarah speaks about her experience losing her mother at a young age and the challenges she faced growing up without ensuring mental health was a priority.
